In the alternate campaign if the greatsword wielder dies he plans on bringing in a halforc fighter with a spiked chain, that he has played before with a different group.
I have used a 16 Strength longsword and shield fighter in the 1st campaign alongside the 2 greatweapon wilders and really felt inferior to the damage they could do with a greatweapon and an 18 strength.
In the "3rd" campaign I am the user of the bastard sword because my pc is also a bit of an archer and this was the best weapon to use 1 handed, although in a stand up figth he drops the bow (or doesn't even 'draw it') and fights 2 handed.

Whatever faults the Dralthi had as a medium fighter seemed to have been remedied here by the Kilrathi engineers.
The first is that the speed is lower than that of all Confederation fighters excepting the Scimitar, with which it is on par.
Not to mention that the laser is not the quickest refiring of the guns carried in either arsenal.

A medium fighter, the Scimitar finds a balance between the weight and firepower of a heavy fighter, and the greater mobility of a light fighter.
Her pair of mass drivers is a wonderful offensive tool--they fire fast, do a good bit of damage, have adequate range, and in general rip through Kilrathi shields and armor very well.
In short, I respect the fighter greatly (a one should any fighter that's been around this long), but if they keep making us fly missions in them, both the dinosaur Scimitars and their pilots will become extinct.
