Topic: Sclerology

In the News (Wed 23 Dec 09)

Sclerology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sclerology is a non-invasive alternative medicine practice in which the sclera is examined for information about a patient's systemic health.
Sclerology has been used perennially by indigenous cultures for at least a millennia.
Similar to criticism which has been leveled at iridology and other alternative practices, skeptics point out that sclerology is founded in pseudoscience, claiming that there is no reason to assume that the condition of the sclera has any causal relation to a patient's condition in general.

Sclerology is the study of the red lines in the white of the eyes, their health implications and relation to stress-patterns in a person's health.
With sclerology, the cause of stress in the body is easily identified because the lines start somewhere (the cause) and end somewhere (the effect).
Sclerology provides a simple, painless, non-invasive, economical means of looking into the body and when used in conjunction with any other system - becomes a powerful tool for the prevention of dis-ease and maintenance of health and well-being.

Peter Hinde - Iridology and Sclerology in the UK
It is similar to foot or hand reflexology in that the irises of the eyes present a map of reflexes for the whole body, but differs in that the diagnosis from iridology is much more accurate, although the iris cannot be manipulated directly for treatment.
When iridology is combined with sclerology (analysis of the white of the eye), a fuller picture is obtained, and the relative importance of some areas of the body to the overall disease process can be established.
It is difficult to find a major use for the study in cases where treatment is purely by for example, acupuncture or classical homoeopathy for which the diagnosis is integral to the discipline.
