Scorn is the one-man project of former Napalm Death drummer Mick Harris.
Despite these resemblances, Scorn is often associated with industrial and experimental music, and is considered a rare example of a successful industrial/downtempo crossover artist.
Scorn is recorded in Mick Harris' home studio, "the box".

Scorn was created by Mick Harris in 1991 to create rhythmic, hypnotic drum and bass music.
In a very short period of time, Scorn has emerged as the vanguard of both the post-rock and isolationist aesthetics; appropriating such distinctly communal musics as hip-hop and dub to extreme, individualistic ends.

Releasing material through Earache as Scorn (his ambient dub aegis) and through Sentrax as Lull, in addition to other sporadic projects, his genre-spanning activities have done much to jar the minds, expectations, and record collections of audiences previously kept aggressively opposed.
To the present, Scorn and Lull, along with John Zorn's experimental jazz-dubcore outfit Painkiller have remained Harris' primary ongoing projects, although one-off collaborations with the likes of James Plotkin, Nicholas Bullen, Bill Laswell, and Martyn Bates are common.
Harris formed Scorn in 1991 in collaboration with bassist Nick Bullen, incorporating elements of ambient, industrial, dub, rock, and hip-hop.
A wonderful collection of different styles that flow seemlessley together, this record demonstrates that the Scorn sound can be manipulated and twisted into a host of different things, by a variety of people and still retain its unique depth.
In fact, only two of the 10 tracks are by Scorn, and those two are remixes.
For one, Nik Bullen's vocals are only present on one track (Laswell's chthonic mix of "Night Ash Black".) The tracks here often clock in at epic lengths, ending up more like orchestral movements or shamanistic trance workouts than they were in their first incarnation.
Okay, yes, I'm scorning here—in the important respects the awkwardness of Alyssa's lines is no more relevant than the squeakiness of her voice.
Scorn judges a thing successful when it can tell by similarity that what it's being fed has been put together in accordance with The Way These Things Are Done, deviation from which demonstrates an inability to get it right.
Where anger is engaging and creative, scorn is obedient, always subject to the material presented to it and one or another set of rules for dot-connecting.

Fancy was used interchangeably with imagination in the eighteenth century but during the Romantic period came to signify the faculty of arranging ideas and images in pleasant combinations, as opposed to imagination which was more profound, intellectual and radically inventive.

This is mainly because they have the ability to make a fresh and intriguing sound, which in a genre built on slow tempos and constant repetition is quite a feat.
The 10-minute opener "Almost human" and the other two tracks from the 'John Peel Session' are the most impressive material on this disc, setting both the emotional and sonic tone of this CD: Brutal and cold, the music is devoid of humanity and warmth.
Scorn's new EP "Imaginaria Award" is already available in Europe, the new album "Greetings from Birmingham" is planned for release later this year.
I never really was a scorn fan; while respecting creative diversity of mick harris, I was never able to get into his stuff.
to begin with, this album is *fun*; it has a grooving, energetic sound that emanates not the childish, happy kind of fun (after all, scorn *is* “no joke movement”), but rather a well-thought out, enjoyable fascination with sound and moods that have a groovy yet quite edgy atmosphere.
at the end those contrasting elements is what makes this record so interesting; both themes (rhythmic and ambient) are strong in scorn’s music, therefore giving it a touch of both worlds, hypnotizing and energizing at the same time.

Mick Harris' first album with Nick Bullen as Scorn produced a debut that was perfectly appropriate for its label home on Earache.
Comparisons at the time to the early groan and doom efforts of Swans, for instance, were well considered.
Scorn's obsessive focus on structure and pounding drumbeats also suggests another close parallel -- Robert Hampson, similarly shifting gears in the early '90s from Loop's rampages to Main's rhythm-is-rhythm portraits.
More importantly, it signals a rejection of classical theism, the idea that God is the creator of the universe who remains ontologically distinct from it and governs it according to his sovereign will.
How it is that he reconceptualizes the relation between God, the infinite substance, and the order of finite things, becomes clear only as we turn to his account of the modal system.
