		Scornicesti's mayor, Tiberiu Mateescu, admitted during a television interview that he had threatened to cut off the hospital's water and sewage systems if the TB patients were transferred there.
		The health authority then decided to move the TB ward to Scornicesti, 15 kilometers away, where two of its original staff of 25 doctors were working, the rest having moved to jobs in Slatina or elsewhere.
		On 6 June, the Scornicesti local council unanimously adopted Mateescu's proposal to hold a referendum on the issue.
