Suckling Airways (Cambridge) Ltd trading as Scotairways holds a United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority Type A Operating Licence, it is permitted to carry passengers, cargo and mail on aircraft with 20 or more seats.
In the face of heavy competition from British Airways on the Edinburgh to London City route, ScotAirways introduced its first jet aircraft, the 80-seat British Aerospace 146, onto the route on 9th May 2005.
Code share arrangements are also in place with Flybe on the Edinburgh service and KLM Cityhopper on the Amsterdam route.

But wondered is Roy Suckling remains the CEO to Scot Airways, as I have seen his wife, Merlyn Suckling, appear on the Scot Airways site as the Commercial Director.
Scot did a big expansion at London City some years ago but then retracted somewhat and seem to be marking time.
I haven't a clue, have no vested interest in Scot Airways, but am just an interested poster and the repeated unsubstantiated assertion that they don't break even is starting to wear a bit thin.

 Help understanding ScotAirways
Scot Airways have their own independent frequent flyer scheme (which is rather what you would expect from an independent company) called "Reward Plus" which has run for years.
I do get just a bit fed up with this continual invective against Scot Airways whenever they are mentioned anywhere on FlyerTalk, usually the same few posters and always the same points over and over again in a tedious overlong fashion.
Scot Airways has a number of shareholders, none with overall control.

I do think Scot Airways offer the most pleasant and enjoyable flight at competitive price and London City is the most direct and hassle free airport down south.
The food then was utterly superb, and was freshly provided by local caterers in Ipswich known the Suckling's alas then the Souter family got a share of it.
It is good to see that Scot Airways is keeping up to the standards set by by their founding airline, Suckling.

Since the 2nd May 2005 Scot Airways have been utilising a Titan Airways Bae146 - 200 aircraft between Edinburgh and London City Mondays to Fridays.
The jet will complement ScotAirways' existing fleet of Dornier 328s.
The expansion was marked at both Edinburgh and London City airports as passengers of the jet were treated to a special performance from Scottish violinist, Nicola Benedetti and Neilston and District Pipe Band, which also travelled down to play on the tarmac at London City as traditional Beefeaters greeted the new arrivals.
