  Scott Morgan and his bands
Scott Morgan was 16-years-old when his first band played to an audience of 13,000 fans, literally stopping the show as the screaming crowd rushed the stage.
A fresh set of Powertrane studio recordings is ready for release, as is another disc culled from red-hot live recordings of a 2000 European tour with Tek and the Italian band 3 Assassins.
And now - the next phase: Scott is teaming with Hellacopters leader Nicke Hellacopter and a bunch of hitshot Swedes to take a trip back to the soul heyday with a new project, The Solution.

The Hollywood A-lister is Asheton’s one and only buyer thus far, and is perhaps overjoyed to have a piece of the seminal guitarist hanging in one of her houses.
Asheton says the purchase “surprised the fuck outta me.” He has a prediction for his works’ fate in the hands of Zellweger, though.

By that time, Scott [Morgan] wasn't coming anymore, but it'd be me and Scott Asheton and Fred, and we were doing some of the benefits for the DSO and little things like that, but it wasn't like having a band and working on it every week and playing all the time.

The Stooges concert review, DTE Energy Music Theatre, Clarkston, MI Aug. 25, 2003
Brother Scott Asheton along with Mike Watt, with slacked-jaw and a deer-in-the-headlights glaze on his eyes (probably in amazement that he's actually part of this legendary band), not only did justice to The Stooges' early material, but actually helped up the ante, providing rafter-rattling rhythms which taunted and spurred on their animalistic frontman.
With long brown locks, scruffy whiskers, sinewy x-rated torso fully exposed and all of the stage-stealing thunder of his youth fully intact, Iggy perfected many of the nihilistic frontman antics that he originally created at a time when people still had flowers in their hair and were singing about peace and love.
From diving headfirst into the hungry crowd to prowling atop the amps on all fours to sprinting, gyrating and spitting out his lyrics within inches of his fans' faces, this was one of rock's true rebels that had all of the vigor and passion (quite possibly even more now) from his gory, glory days.

By the late '70s, Asheton was manning the drums in Sonic's Rendezvous, a group that was led by former MC5 guitarist Fred "Sonic" Smith.
Not much was heard from Asheton during the '80s, but in the '90s he returned as a member of such groups as Scot's Pirates (on 1994's self-titled debut and 1995's Revolutionary Means), Sonny Vincent's Rat Race Choir (1997's Pure Filth), and Rock Action (the latter a nickname that Pop gave Asheton in the early '70s).
In addition, Asheton was interviewed for the superb 1996 book, -Please Kill Me: The Uncensored History of Punk (by Legs McNeil and Gillian McCain), recounting the Stooges' history, as well as appearing as part of Iggy Pop's VH1: Behind the Music TV episode in 1999.

Ron Asheton has made himself into a guitar hero in the punk and alternative rock scene as he recently contributed guitar work to fellow Detroit guitar hero Wayne Kramer of the MC5 on Kramer’s 2001 solo album that drew critical acclaim as Asheton’s guitar playing was called one of the most influential in rock.

As a founding member of the legendary Stooges, guitarist Ron Asheton forever changed the face of rock and roll, his raw, primordial riffs presaging the rise of punk by a decade.
Born July 17, 1948 in Washington, D.C., he first surfaced in the teen band the Dirty Shames before joining the Iggy Pop-led Stooges in 1967; the Ann Arbor, MI-based group made their live debut on Halloween of that year, earning immediate notoriety for their frighteningly intense live presence and blistering, primitivist sound.
Asheton returned to active musical duty during the mid-1990s, recording Thin, Slim and None with the Empty Set for Birdcage Records while also teaming with fellow Destroy All Monsters alum Niagara to release The Last Great Ride under the name Dark Carnival.

In 1968, the Stooges -- then Iggy Pop, Ron Asheton, Dave Alexander and Scott Asheton -- were opening for MC5, whose Wayne Kramer described them as his "little brother band".

Two minutes in, Asheton's soaring guitar solo, obviously overdubbed as the basic riff continues, literally burns a hole through the sound, pushing everything else down to a whisper.

Fast-forward some forty-odd years and now we find Scott Morgan, who had a generation of midwesterners exclaiming "That's the Rationals' song!" when they heard Aretha Franklin's (or Otis Redding's) version on the radio, reappearing with a CD of his latest band, Powertrane.
Morgan had played with ex-Stooges drummer Scott Asheton in a mid-1990s band named Scots Pirates, but for this project, Scott’s guitarist brother Ron Asheton is brought on for a six-song Stooges medley that closes the set.
This prefigures by several months the Ashetons' participation in the Stooges revival tour of 2003, thirty years after their dramatic breakup onstage, recorded as "Metallic K.O.".
