Scott County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas.
The county was formed on November 15, 1833 and named for Andrew Scott, a justice of the Supreme Court of the Arkansas Territory.
In the county the population is spread out with 26.50% under the age of 18, 8.10% from 18 to 24, 26.50% from 25 to 44, 24.20% from 45 to 64, and 14.70% who are 65 years of age or older.

Scott County was explored in June and July of 1774 by Virginians locating land warrants for soldiers of the French and Indian War.
Scott County was one of two counties established by the first Kentucky legislature on June 1, 1792, and was named in honor of Gen. Charles Scott, governor during 1808-1812.
The population of Scott County was 17,948 in 1970; 21,813 in 1980; and 23,867 in 1990.

DAVENPORT - Scott County farmers may soon have to travel a little bit farther to get help in receiving loans or take advantage of other farming programs.
Scott County is one of 31 Iowa offices that met the criteria for closure, according to Derryl McLaren, FSA state executive director.
In addition, offices in the 47 counties contiguous to the 31 identified counties are candidates for closure.To that end, offices in Cedar, Clinton and Muscatine counties are also candiates for closing, FSA officials said.

The High Knob area of the Jefferson National Forest runs along the border between Scott County and Wise County and is one of the most scenic and rustic landscapes in Southwest Virginia.
Using the federal funds which are being announced today, the U.S. Forest Service will work in conjunction with the Scott County Horse Association to identify the optimal location for the new trail network and parking area.
