Scott Parker (footballer) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Scott Matthew Parker (born October 13, 1980) is an English football player and the current captain of Newcastle United.
Parker, who had been consistently linked with moves away from Charlton for several years, finally left the Valley on January 30, 2004 to join Chelsea for a fee of £10m, after a protracted and acramonious transfer saga in which Parker is rumoured to have refused to train for Charlton.
Parker was initially signed as cover for Claude Makelele and Frank Lampard, but played most of his games for Chelsea as a winger.

But Scott’s football career had yet to take off and he was to remain one of football’s best kept secrets for a few more years yet, making only random appearances in the Addicks first-team.
Parker was flung straight into the first-team and his spell at Carrow Road seemed to have worked wonders, going on to make a further 20 appearances that year for Charlton and establishing himself in the side.
Scott never had a chance to cement his place in the centre of midfield for Chelsea and was constantly deployed on the right-wing.

After withstanding a week of petty character assassination Scott Parker needed proof that he was well advised to leave Charlton for the wealthy pastures of Chelsea.
While Parker endured an uncertain debut against a scuffling Blackburn side, Lampard scored both the first-half goals that set Chelsea on course for their eighth away victory in the Premiership and kept them within four points of Manchester United in second.
Parker, in the simple world of Charlton supporters, is the one-time idol who has fallen to a money obsession.

Parker says: "He was an enormous influence on me from the moment he walked into the football club.
Parker, naturally, sees things a little differently, saying: "This is not the death of Charlton and the only way they can do anything about it is to show ambition themselves by going out to spend X amounts of money."

Scott Parker- he's only going for the money (im not saying i blame HIM) Chelsea havent worked hard to get him, the havent brought him up thru their youth system, they havent looked after him...they just offered him more money than Charton could...it really shouldnt be like that.
footballers have a relatively short career and they have to seek out to do what is best for themselves, so in that view, i can't blame him for going.

Joseph John Cole (born November 8, 1981 in Islington, London) is a professional footballer who plays for Chelsea FC of the English Premier League and the England national team.
He is a right-footed midfielder with an avowed preference for a central position but has enjoyed most success playing as a left or right winger at Chelsea, due to his fine dribbling abilities and ball control.
Cole refused to move and stayed in Chelsea, but figured irregularly throughout the first half of season 2003-2004 and was reduced to a peripheral figure after Ranieri signed Scott Parker in January 2004.

In the case of Scott Parker one wonders exactly why he feels it necessary to desert the excellent Charlton for the shores of Chelsea’s massively overcrowded midfield club.
Parker knows that he is on the fringes of the squad and evidently is prepared to do whatever it takes to force his name over the line and get his ‘seat on the plane’.
Parker is a fine example of this, having been selected in recent squads but by logical reasoning being at least fifth on his particular chosen ladder.
