Scott Stringer maintained his mother "is on the list," but sent a copy of a 1993 certificate from the County Lawyers Association stating that she'd taken their six-hour course for guardians, not evaluators.
Scott also acknowledged that his mother was "one of the first people" to receive evaluator/conservator appointments in Manhattan after the positions were created by the legislature in 1992, just months before Stringer became an assemblyman.
Scott's father Ronald was reprimanded in 1990 by an appellate division panel that stripped him of $150,000 in court fees he'd taken, saying that he and a colleague who'd claimed the same fees had "never drafted a single page of legal documents" except their fee application.

To be sure, Stringer is a strong, indeed unequivocal supporter of gay rights, but the fact—confirmed by GLID president Melissa Sklarz—that the assemblyman garnered more than 70 percent of the tally of roughly 115 club members voting, led, perhaps unsurprisingly, to some cries of foul.
Stringer is careful to emphasize that his independence is balanced by his ability to work with others, a thinly veiled shot at the person he sees as his main competitor in the race—East Side Councilwoman Eva Moskowitz, who he characterized as proclaiming “I don’t have any political support” as a badge of honor.
Stringer is keen to point out every single lever of power—appointments, seats on city commissions and boards, and budgetary allocations—that the borough president’s office has at its disposal, but is also pragmatic about the job’s potential.

Subsequent to the press conference by Stringer and Duane, the Infiniti ad was removed from the sidewalk shed at 14th St. and Eighth Ave.

[NYtenants-online] On the Public Advocate Race - and why it matters
Scott Stringer, indeed, has fought for the west side tenants and neighborhoods (where we're located).
Stringer has strong ties to many political clubs and is not as independent as we would like -- for example, his accepting endorsements from the so-called Liberal Party and by the anti-community, pro-landlord, pro-development and Giuliani-endorsing McManus Club are mind-boggling given the ongoing destruction of the west side.
Scott Stringer, a pro-tenant state legislator, got a measly $4650 from Litwin and Tishman-Speyer combined, but even that amount was quadruple the pittance given to Kathryn Freed, an outgoing City Council member who got $1000 from Rudin.

In response to complaints by community residents, Assemblyman Scott Stringer has introduced legislation in Albany to amend the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law ("ABC Law") which would ensure neighborhood residents and community boards a period of time to comment on liquor license renewals prior to the State Liquor Authority (SLA) taking action on a renewal application.
Stringer's legislation (reproduced below) would guarantee a period of sixty days from notification to the community board before the SLA acts on an application.
According to community advocates, this is seen as a small, but important, piece in the pie to hold problem bars accountable for their behavior in the community.
