The Scottish Executive (Scottish Gaelic: Riaghaltas na h-Alba), as established by the Scotland Act 1998 is the executive arm of the Scottish Parliament, in other words the Scottish Government, a term used both by members of the Scottish Executive and by others.
The Scottish Executive is currently formed from a coalition between the Labour Party and the Scottish Liberal Democrats.
The Executive's logo, shown with English and Scottish Gaelic caption, uses a stripped-down version of the Royal Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom (for use in Scotland).

 Atypical Scrapie Now Confirmed In The UK
Senior officials with both DEFRA and the Scottish Executive's environment and rural affairs department were at pains to stress, however, that the discovery is not linked to BSE and that there is no need for consumer concerns over food safety.
The Department of Agriculture has confirmed that a new strain of scrapie is emerging in Irish sheep.
The department's confirmation of the existence of the illness in Ireland came just hours after the British authorities said that 80 cases of an unknown strain of scrapie had been found in sheep there.

On 24 March the Scottish Executive announced that the pre-emptive cull would be intensified to include all susceptible species on farms contiguous to premises where FMD had been confirmed on or after 16 March.
On 19 April, the Department responded that there was no record of Form A being served on her premises but added that the legality of the culling of an animal did not depend on this.
The Department's evidence At the start of the investigation the Head of the Department explained that the EI set out the DEFRA policy for dealing with cases where an owner resisted the cull but that in Scotland the policy responsibility lay with the Department and Scottish Ministers, not DEFRA.

The Scottish Executive Environment and Rural Affairs Department (SEERAD) is responsible for the administration and payment of EU Common Agricultural Policy subsidies to farmers in Scotland.
As farmers made changes to their fields, the Scottish Executive had to record these changes manually and send the information to Ordnance Survey, which would then refresh the maps on a monthly basis.
Newell and Budge was already working with SEERAD as part of an ongoing contract and the company had the necessary expertise and understanding of SEERAD's business needs and existing systems to create the bespoke GIS required.

Data is published in the Economic Report on Scottish Agriculture (ERSA) by type of farm.

This is the definition used in Clause 3.1 of the model to meet this requirement of the Land Reform Act.
IR Charities is to be replaced by and incorporated into the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) when the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Bill is enacted - anticipated to be by summer 2006 - when the Model and this Introduction will be updated.

In terms of updating the categorisation criteria, the indices of nutrient release from farms and the impact of organic matter on the seabed might require updating in the light of current knowledge.
Appropriate indices for this category could be the upper index levels of 9 and 10, where it was indicated that the environment was at very great risk from irreversible damage if any further development was allowed.
