The first national championship for the Connaught Cup was played in Fort William (now Thunder Bay) and was won by Norwood Wanderers from Winnipeg.
Hugh Cairns from Saskatoon was awarded the Victoria Cross, Joe Newton from Hamilton, the Distinguished Conduct Medal, and Jimmy Montgomerie, from Montreal, the Military Medal.
The league eventually went coast to coast with teams in Halifax and Victoria, but folded at the end of the 1992 season.

When I was a kid, I used to hate soccer, but that may have been because I was forced to play (at school) in the cold and rain, and I had no idea what I was doing.
My first page was the US Soccer Archives which I created in order to assemble for the first time as much info about the many pro leagues which have existed in the US over the past 100 years, and which until now had not been available for public perusal from one central source.
My input for the internet soccer people is the "International Soccer Server" covering most European leagues along with some lower divisions in a "standard (of my own)" format at http://www.dmi.tut.fi/riku/soccer2.html.
