	World Scout Jamboree - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		After its introduction in 1908, Scouting was a worldwide success, and Baden-Powell, the founder of the movement, saw the need for a gathering of representatives from all nations where Scouting had taken hold.
		There are two exceptions to this series: no Jamboree was held between 1937 and 1947 because of the Second World War, and the 1979 Jamboree, which was to be held in Iran, was cancelled due to the political upheaval in the region at that time.
		The 2007 Jamboree, to be held in the United Kingdom again, is part of the Scouting 2007 Centenary celebrations, and is expecting around 40,000 young people to attend.

		The Boy Scouts of America participated with 301 Scouts and leaders at the First World Scout Jamboree, and 3,200 American Scouts/leaders are invited to return to the birthplace of Scouting during the summer of 2007.
		Scouts and Venturers between the ages of 14 and 17 years old on July 27, 2007—that is specifically those born between July 28, 1989, and July 27, 1993—may take part in the jamboree.

		The goal of the contest is to encourage Scouting in a boy’s daily life, with an emphasis on outdoor and physical activities.
		Scout Johnny attends a weekend overnight with one of the troops; he participates in the weekend activities and goes home on Sunday.
		For a day to count, as a Scout day on a camping trip the scout must be there for at least 8 awake hours, but this includes transportation to/from the event.

	National Scout Jamboree Contingent Information
		The 2005 National Scout Jamboree will be held July 25 through August 5, 2005 at Fort A. Hill, near Fredericksburg, Virginia, in the historic area of Washington D.C. With pre-jamboree touring in the Washington D.C. area, our contingent trip will be from commence five days prior to the Jamboree.

	Deaf Scout Jamboree 2006 Scouting Scouts Hearing Impaired
		The aim of this sub-camp will be to promote scouting for deaf children and make other scouts aware of the needs of deaf scouts.
		We, the Leaders involved in the 191st feel strongly that there should be a sub-camp specifically for deaf Scouters, having attended camps run by 'hearing' scouts over the past 9 years we feel that there is a huge benefit to be gained from a deaf sub-camp.
		It is felt by the 191st that such a sub-camp would promote the interests of deaf scouting (and other disabilities) and ensure that scouts from both Ireland and around the world will get a chance to meet, learn from each other and have fun whilst doing so.
