 Biography of Rear Admiral Miles Rutherford Browning
Reporting on July 20, 1929 to Aircraft Squadrons, Scouting Fleet (later, Aircraft, Scouting Force), he commanded Scouting Squadron 5-S, aviation unit of the USS Trenton with additional duty on the staff of Commander Light Cruiser Division Two, Scouting Fleet, (USS Trenton, flagship) until June 1931.
Upon arrival at San Diego, he was assigned to Observation Squadron 2, attached first to the USS Aroostook, later to the USS Idaho in which he served from January 1925 until May 1927, during which period he participated in the Curtiss Marine Trophy Race.
By his judicious planning and brilliant execution, [he] was largely responsible for the rout of the enemy Japanese fleet in the Battle of Midway.

 2005 National Scout Jamboree: History
Sir Robert Baden-Powell, founder of the Scouting movement, created the idea of holding a large encampment of Scouts and leaders to celebrate Scouting in England.
Three were held in the western United States at Irvine Ranch, California; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Farragut State Park in Idaho.
More than 600,000 Scouts and leaders have hiked the trails, paths, and roadways since the first jamboree was held at the base of the Washington Monument on the Mall in our nation's capital.

Citation: Gallantry in the attack against hostile Sioux Indians on May 7, 1877 at Muddy Creek, Mont., and in the engagement with Nez Perces Indians at Camas Meadows, Idaho, on 20 August 1877 in which he sustained a painful knee wound.
While scouting with 4 men and attacked in ambush by 14 hostile Indians, held his ground, 2 of his men being wounded, and kept up the fight until himself wounded in the side, and then went to the assistance of his wounded comrades.
Saved the life of a dismounted soldier, who was in imminent danger of being cut off, by alone galloping quickly to his assistance under heavy fire and escorting him to a place of safety, his horse being twice shot in this action.

More than 110,000 people—two-thirds of them American citizens—were herded into 10 detention camps in seven states: two in California, Arizona, and Arkansas, and one each in Colorado, Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming.
Before the war ended and the camp closed in 1945, he went to summer camp with Troop 379 at Yellowstone National Park.
They were Japanese-American Scouts who were sent with their families to detention camps well inland from the coast soon after the Japanese Navy attacked Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941.

 Fort Laramie NHS: Park History (Part I)
On June 22 Major Osborne Cross and Private George Gibbs, with a contingent of Mounted Riflemen en route to take over Fort Hall on Snake River, in present Idaho, paused at Laramie Fork where they found Company E encamped opposite the adobe fort while Woodbury was scouting the territory.
Major W. Sanderson with 4 officers and 58 men of Company E left Fort Leavenworth early in May and arrived at the Laramie on June 16 without incident.
Before the ink was dry on the purchase agreement Sanderson had the entire command employed in cutting and hauling timber and burning lime.
