I have been involved with a council JLT for 6 years and the product that we are turning out each summer is great, but if they go back to their home unit and don't get the support from their unit leader, then a lot of what we preach and teach is lost in the mix.
And that is where the Scoutmaster has to coach and advise the Scouts on an ongoing basis on *how* to do things in a Patrol Method organization and work through problems that arise in it.
Most scoutmasters let thier ego get in the way an say something like "its my troop and we will run it like as I want to run it" This is ssad because alot of youth return to thier troop excited and want to do a good job.
