IT Manager's Journal | Why SCOX price has been so up and down   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
SCOX is looking to test the next important area of chart support -- at around $8.5 to $9." I also wrote that I would not be "long" in the stock -- or to put differently, I would be short or sit on the sidelines for a while.
The rebound in SCOX was higher than I had thought and was roughly coincident with the end of the market correction as the broader market began to move back up.
First, SCOX had breached an important technical level (the $8.50 to $9 area I had referred to in the Feb. 16 column) and had briefly traded down into the high $7s.

SCOX has no pertinent patents and if ever there were trade secrets released to Linux they are no longer trade secrets by virtue of having been released in Linux - whomever contributed such might be liable, but Linux users would not be beholden in any way.
SCOX will not have assets to cover the damages which will eventually be levied against it, but SCOX is, to some extent under the influence of Canopy, and Canopy's coffers are enough to pay enough damages to at minimum cover IBM's legal costs.
They all know that SCOX is headed for bankruptcy but all realize that any one of them dumping their holdings will reduce the stock price to near zero, hence they watch each other and each unload in small amounts when they think they can, each hoping that none of the others bails first.

IT Manager's Journal | SCOX: High valuations are a PIPE dream   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-01)
SCOX is getting pretty close to that low-end of the area of support of around $8.5 to $9.
Short-term, SCOX could bounce a bit and Wednesday it traded right down into its support range of $8.50 - $9 so that could be the trigger for a fast, short-term trade on the long-side.
Now contract that with our view that SCOX is a short - 24% on the downside is a very nice short considering that the 24% return was over a period of about 3 weeks.
