  Scrabble TV Show
Show Summary: To date this is the most successful game show based on the board game.
Scrabble pitts two players in a crossword round which uses the famous Scrabble board, along the way contestants can win money by picking a letter that falls in a pink or blue square and then identfy the word.
Since there are some new game shows on GSN, I think there should be another GSN channel that only shows reruns of game shows like Press Your Luck, $100,000 Pyramid, Card Sharks, classic Wheel of Fortune, classic Jeopardy, and whatever other game show that was on in either the 70s, 80s, or 90s.

A game show is a radio or television programme involving members of the public or celebrities, sometimes as part of a team, playing a game, perhaps involving answering quiz questions, for points or prizes.
In a reality show the competition usually lasts several days or even weeks and a competitor's progress through the game is based on some form of popularity contest, usually a kind of disapproval voting by their fellow competitors or members of the public.
Dating game shows, the original reality games, in which the prize is typically a well-funded dating opportunity that one can only pursue with the individual one has 'won' on the show.

The Scrabble Sprint was intense, with the pressure of time ticking away, having to call out a letter from a given pair, then see how it fits into the word, then having to guess the word (usually with an intentionally misleading clue).
That show was the "jump the shark" moment, but I still enjoyed the show before and after that day for its game play and it allowed a viewer at home to play along and try to guess the words before the players could.
Scrabble was a fairly solid game, but the 1993 revival wasn't...cheaper payoffs, cheaper set, etc. Oh, and the spelling format that yielded the whole "mosquito" incident described above was actually intro'd in mid-1985, after the show had been on about a yr...wisely, they dumped it and went back to the original format after 2 mos.

He currently hosts "Lingo", one of a handfull of shows that GSN debuts once a year, to air for five weeks, before falling into a rerun rut, and never to be heard of again, before they roll out their next handfull of poorly conceived game shows.
Good game shows are ones where the contestants are having fun, and you don't have to form any kind of emotional attachment to the contestants.
Now the classic shows are returning to the network, only one original remains (Lingo, one of only three good ones that they had, along with Hollywood Showdown and Russian Roulette), and the non game show programming is being cut back rapidly, with only a few gambling shows on every once in a while.

 Scrabble
Scrabble is a popular word board game, in which two to four players score points by forming words from individual lettered tiles on a 15x15 game board.
The game is played with two to four players on a square (or nearly square) board with a 15-by-15 grid of cells, each of which accommodates a single letter tile.
With North American rules, the game ends when (1) one player plays every tile in his rack, and there are no tiles remaining in the bag (regardless of the tiles in his opponent's rack); or (2) when six successive scoreless turns have occurred and at least one word is on the board.

Tiles: The tiles that come with commercial Scrabble boards are not used in competitive Scrabble as the letters are recessed into their surfaces, making it possible to feel the outline of a letter or blank while your hand is in the bag.

The Gadgeteer - Franklin Official SCRABBLE Player\'s Dictionary Review
SCRABBLE is one of my favorite all-time games; but it wasn't until I began to write this review that I bothered to learn anything about its history.
SCRABBLE's roots go back to the Great Depression when Alfred Mosher Butts, an out of work architect, came up with the idea to invent a board game based on vocabulary words.
SCRABBLE's original name was "Lexico," which was later changed to the cumbersome "Criss-Cross Words." According to the history of SCRABBLE, "the boards for the first Criss-Cross Words game were hand drawn with [Butts'] architectural drafting equipment, reproduced by blueprinting and pasted on folding checkerboards.

Scrabble Rabble - Minnesota Monthly - June 2006 - Minneapolis, St. Paul, Minnesota
These are the tools of Totally Scrabble Tuesday, a late-night call-in show broadcast from the studios of the Minneapolis Television Network (MTN), which has thrust Scrabble, if not into prime time, then at least into an hour when callers jam the phone lines, vying to play word games with a TV host.
Though most of the show consists of waiting for call-in players to “think” and accommodating the host’s idiosyncrasies (one evening Griffin-Cassidy left the set, mid-game, to use the restroom), Scrabble is punctuated with its own brand of color (and off-color) commentary.
An evening’s show might include flattering remarks about the host’s hands, banter about his upcoming trip to the Wisconsin Dells, a random shot of his crotch, the re-telling of Laffy Taffy jokes, and curious bubbling sounds from the call-in team known as Tour de Bong.
