Dave Grohl - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
At the time that Grohl joined Nirvana, the band had already recorded several demos for what would be the follow-up to their debut album Bleach, having spent time recording with producer Butch Vig in Wisconsin.
The effort was released in May of 1997 as the band's second album, The Colour and the Shape, which eventually cemented the Foo Fighters as a staple of rock radio.
(Grohl can be seen drumming for the band in the video for the song "No One Knows".) After a brief US tour with the band and feeling rejuvenated by the effort, Grohl recalled the other Foo Fighters to completely re-record their album at his studio in Virginia.

Since they released two albums in the late 80s, Primal Scream was a catchy but irreverent band that was influenced by the dirty blues of the Rolling Stones and the 60s jangle-pop of the Byrds.
Unfortunately, the band retreated to their blues-rock sound in 1994 with “Give Out but Don’t Give Up” which was a disappointment both critically and commercially despite obtaining a U.S. hit with “Rocks”.
Then 9/11 happened and the band was forced to change the song’s title as it reappeared in their 2002 album “Evil Heat” which finally got a U.S. distribution through Sony in late 2002 despite some mixed reviews for the release.

Both his band name and his label name reveal one of Grohl's minor obsessions, UFOs: Foo Fighters was the name given by American bomber pilots given to unidentified fireballs spotted over Germany during WWII, and Roswell, N.M. is where UFO freaks thinks there was an alien landing that the government has covered up.
The band played the Black Cat partly because one of the things that Grohl did with money earned during his tenure in Nirvana was to invest in fellow punk drummer Dante Ferrando's live music venue.

The band's first release in nearly two years was a single, Ivy Ivy Ivy in June, 1989, followed by an LP, Primal Scream, in September.
"If the first Primal Scream album was acid," says Gillespie, "and the second one was speed, then the third phase was E." Weatherall remixed the Primal Scream track Loaded, turning it into a stoned-funk shuffle, and after massive club hype the band had their first real hit.
Loaded charted at No. 16 and almost overnight, Primal Scream had ceased to be, in Gillespie's terms, "a really unfashionable rock band," and became dance rock heroes for a generation.

Although the band had been around for years before, Primal Scream made their first big mark in 1991 with Screamadelica, an album, which in Britain at least, became the penultimate hybrid of Sixties flower-powered, skunk-driven idealism and early Nineties ecstasy drizzled higher-consciousness raving.
It's the Scream's most definitive and cohesive record to date, and the one most likely to change their reputation from rock and roll drug casualties, to bona fide loud-mouthed hell-raisers.
