JoBlo reviews the movie "Scream 2"
A movie called "Stab", based on the events of the small town, as written in the book by Gale Weathers, has also just come out, and sparked what appears to be a "copycat killer" on the campus grounds.
Also, even though I am reviewing this movie as a person who has already seen and thoroughly enjoyed the first movie, I thought it might be harder for those non-original SCREAM viewers, to fully comprehend the many references to the first film.
SCREAM AGAIN and SCREAM LOUDER were two titles that were also considered for this sequel's title.

Someone has taken their love of horror movies too far and is offing the teens of a small town in accordance with "horror movie rules".
But the rest of the movie is great as well, bringing in plenty of "today's hottest young actors" (translated: actors in their mid-20's playing teenagers with no skin acne and belly piercings) to be chased, taunted, and slaughtered.
Overall, Scream is a great movie for horror buffs and a good movie for anyone else who wants to laugh til they ache and be so scared they grab the person next to them.

Pantagraph.com - Craft's Movie Review: "Scream 2"   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-07)
In the corpse-strewn end, both movies are mainly about collegiate meat being laid out for our consumption -- the kind of menu fare slasher movies have been catering up to the banquet table since time immemorial.
For his part, "Scream 1 and 2" director Craven had already fully explored this self-aware terrain earlier in the decade, via the far more ambitious and inventive "Wes Craven's New Nightmare," his attempt at coming to terms with the "Nightmare on Elm Street"/Freddy Krueger pop juggernaut he unexpectedly set rolling in 1984.
Nonetheless, the "Scream" films clearly have struck a collective nerve with today's genre-educated horror audiences: the slick mix of glib one-liners, "clever" self-awareness, this year's TV names and traditional slasher conventions have made for nothing short of date-movie nirvana.

However, "Scream 2" is not as strong as its predecessor in certain respects.
For one, "Scream 2" assumes that you have seen the first movie, given all the jokey references to the first movie and the continuation of many plot points-- you are best to view "Scream" beforehand to fully appreciate "Scream 2".
And like "Scream", the final act, when the killer is revealed, is a bit of a disappointment, only this time, it goes on far too long in a series of false endings and artificial plot twists.

"Thinking About the Silent Scream," Jaworski's half-hour documentary, was heard for the first time in the New York area on Aug. 18, and three other major New York radio stations had scheduled it for later in August.
One of the show's primary goals is to refute the suggestion made in "The Silent Scream" that a 12-week-old fetus "feels pain." "Does the brain even exist at conception?" narrator Jaworski asks early in the broadcast.

Scream is a postmodern slasher movie, a horror film that cleverly deconstructs horror films, then reassembles the dead tissue, and (like Frankenstein's monster) creates new life.
So, "Scream" is a "postmodern slasher movie" which "cleverly deconstructs horror films." These are certainly weighty accomplishments because tossing around concepts like "postmodern" and "deconstruction" will usually confuse the heck out of people on this side of the Atlantic.
Actually, I do not find "Scream" to be terribly postmodern, at least not in the sense of being self-reflexive, which is the usual shorthand meaning of the term in media studies (the sequels are considerably most "postmodern" than the original).

February 6, 2000 -- "Scream 3" is the last, let us pray, of a series of three slasher movies that has gone down hill after the first movie in the series.
Reprising their characters are the survivors of the first two movies, deputy Dwight "Dewey" Riley (now a movie consultant, played by David Arquette), Sidney Prescott (now a hotline counselor, played by Neve Campbell), Gale Weathers (now a junk newscaster, played by Courteney Cox), Cotton Weary (now a talk show host, played by Liev Schreiber).
