Script editor - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A script editor — a position sometimes known as story editor — is a member of the production team of scripted television programmes, usually dramas and comedies.
The script editor's main job is to work with the writers of the programme to ensure that the scripts are suitable for production — the script editor, unlike the writers, will usually be a full-time member of the production team, working closely with the producer.
The seniority and influence of a script editor can vary — from the 1960s to the 1980s it was a powerful position, with the script editor selecting which writers to use, and controlling much of the overall storyline direction of a series.

Because these scripts play such an important role in the experimental process, they have been separated out from the standard inspection process and given their own top-level window, the Script Editor.
At the bottom of the script editor window is a shell where the user can type commands directly to the Tcl interpreter associated to the node.

Script Editor Beta requires that Mac OS X v10.2 (Jaguar) be installed on your computer.
Although scripts executed within Script Editor Version 2.0 can target applications in the Classic environment, Script Editor version 2.0 is a native Mac OS X application and can only be launched in the Mac OS X environment, it cannot be run from within any version of Mac OS 9.
So if you edit an existing Classic script it won't work in Classic apps any more and you won't be able to open it under OS 9 to correct this (at least it no longer crashes like those from the first beta).
