Scroll Lock is a key (with an associated status light) on most modern desktop computer keyboards.
When the scroll lock mode was on, the arrow keys would scroll the contents of a text window.

lol the true use for scroll lock is to fill in the gap between print screena dn pause......i think microsoft was better off putting in some other kind of key...like a "hit computer upside the head when it stops responding" key.

The Scroll Lock key has appeared on the keyboards of IBM personal computers since the original 83-key PC/XT and the 84-key AT layouts, and remains on the 101-key and greater "enhanced" keyboards currently in use.
The main intent of the Scroll Lock key was to allow scrolling of screen text up, down and presumably sideways using the arrow keys in the days before large displays and graphical scroll bars.
In Microsoft Excel, Scroll Lock allows you to scroll a spreadsheet with the arrow keys without moving the active cell pointer from the currently highlighted cell.

I believe Scroll Lock was used in the old days of DOS when you could pause a scrolling eg directory list which would ordinarily scroll straight past you on the screen, and if it was long you wouldn't be able to read it all.
As someone else said, scroll lock is used in many apps such as Excel to scroll the whole window with the arrow keys instead of just moving the cursor location.
Otherwise, to scroll the window with the keyboard you'd first have to move the cursor all the way to the edge and only then would further presses scroll the window.

It is most useful in batch files and aliases if you want the keys set a particular way before collecting input from the user.

What is the tag in the section you can use to stop scrolling.
I have my page so its only one screen, but it keeps getting messed up on powweb and has a scroll bar when it doesn't need one.
If the display area is less than or equal to the size of a normal brower page no scroll bar is rerndered such as your page at 1024x768 using IE6.

Num lock adds a small number to the ASCII code in order to kind of stray away from the first charachters in the set.
Scroll Lock kept the text from scrolling by.
And, if you are wondering, PrintScreen would send what was on the screen (paused with scroll lock, that is), and send it directly to 1) first, it was the monitor (for programming outputs, etc...) and 2) eventually, the printer that was hooked up.

I never had problems with the Scroll Lock before in the three years I have owned this wonderful product.
On every other machine I can test it, the "Special Capture" dialog box comes up if you press "Scroll Lock" only if HyperSnap-DX has focus, is the active window.
Obviously when you play a game, HS-DX is not the active window, and Scroll Lock does its job normally.

It works when I hit scroll lock twice in less than two seconds going from the PC to the Mac, but not the other way.
I suspect if a script could be written to turn on and off the Scroll Lock LED on the keyboard, this would effectively switch the KVM.
As far as your script idea, it would probably work, but the Mac doesn't seem to be aware of a scroll lock LED.

I found a few scrolls that have the Lock Splitter spell on them (open 100pt on touch) and then tried to open to main temple door in Vivec.
I used 5 scrolls and they alkl seemed to fizzle out and the door stayed locked.
