 Boston.com / A&E / TV / Characters make `Vegas' a good bet
It's a drama, but it's a wry drama, and "Las Vegas" in some ways recalls the single-camera sitcom "Scrubs." Both NBC shows make much of the dynamic between a newbie and his gruff boss, and both employ confessional voice-overs.
"Las Vegas" also has a touch of the 1980s series "Hotel," as the regular characters cope with casino-hotel guests of the week.
Midway through tonight's "Las Vegas" premiere, a high-powered casino hostess is offered a hotel suite with either a Strip or a mountain view.

The Wiggles - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A mention is also made in the popular TV series Scrubs in which Doctor Cox makes a reference to "Jeff that Wiggle that sleeps too darn much" while speaking to another cast member.
A measure of the Wiggles' growing fame in America is the fact that Captain Feathersword was mentioned in an episode of the acclaimed political TV drama The West Wing.
Crucially for the Wiggles, both the VCR and the CD player were ideally suited to repeat playing, and like TV before them, both technologies were almost immediately harnessed to entertain the preschool children of the late Baby Boomer generation (most of whom had grown up with TV as a constant childhood companion and babysitter).

Also Thursday, the second episode of CBS' "Star Search" held up fairly well against NBC's "Friends" and "Scrubs." The talent-contest series averaged 13.2 million viewers, comparable to the 13.8 million that watched the premiere Wednesday night.
That wouldn't be a big deal for, say, CBS or NBC, but the audience was the biggest for a Thursday series premiere in The WB's history.
Although "Joe Millionaire" and "The Bachelorette" will almost surely finish the week in the Nielsen top 20, they still have a ways to go to unseat the top scripted shows on TV.
