Scum heard it was a good racket from all these "hip", "underground" people, so he got himself a desktop PC and a pro tools lab.
So, the sounds you hear on a Scum album are the sounds of a man trying to kill his PC.
Scum does this by running volume levels into the red, creating destructive beats, then smacking them together with samples, machinery loops, and the sounds of Dumptrucks unloading.

Scum Scunge seems to be saying that playing strictly by the rules of adventuresome heavy metal can not only lead to some decent songs, it’s also good sportsmanship.
Scum Scunge has a very "Old-School" metal/thrash sound that could be compared to an older Slayer in a way.
Whoever told the guys from Scum Scunge that it'd be a good idea to use a really poor photograph of a Chihuahua taking a poop on a five dollar bill as the cover image of their latest c.d., and call the c.d.

Napalmdeath's "scum" is an album i always hold very dearly and it is ofcourse of favorite of mine...
The album that gave birth to grindcore, a genre that is extremely hard to actually like, is not that good...on Napalm Death's standards.
That is why this album only gets a 3.5 in my book, but I'll give 4 stars to bolster the low average and to give the band and album that created grindcore the benefit of the doubt.

The sound on this album is borrowed from US hardcore bands such as 'Minor Threat' and Black Flag, and heavy metal bands such as Slayer and early Metallica.
The only disappointing part of this album is the production which due to the fact that this was a very new style of music, must have been very difficult to produce, and is therefore rather sketchy in some parts.
All in all, this album shows very clearly the roots of this band and of death metal and grindcore in general.

Scum is the first album by the English grindcore band Napalm Death.
The Side A of the Scum album was originally recorded for £50.00 at Rich Bitch Studio (Birmingham, England) in August 1986: it was intended to form part of a split release with the English hardcore thrash group Atavistic on Manic Ears records (Bristol, England).
The album was released as a single album through Earache Records in July 1987.

Assembling a collection of what could easily be mistaken as Rob Zombie/White Zombie b-sides, this album revels in a highly dated electro-metal sound that lacks the magnetism of the prime days of either band.
This album is proof that they haven't and thus the listener is left with the same old skeletons in a barely renovated closet.
From their flat pseudo-covers and borrowing of vocal patterns from groups like Queen ("Pornstarchampion") and INXS ("Murder Song") to the uninspired electro-industrial tinged dirges they dredge up on their own, this album is one of the blandest affairs to hit stores in recent memory.

On both sides of the stage it has been an honor to be able to have released 3 albums on 3 different major labels in the last 5 years and tour the world more times than I can even count.

I don't know if I would consider Scum to be a metal band, despite its lineup, at least not in the contemporary sense of the word.
I can't help but wonder if my opinion of Scum would have been any different if the music were the same but played by five hitherto unheard musicians instead of such an assortment of fl metal deities and hard-rocking demigods.

Aside from album opener "Multinational Corporations," these tracks ("songs" seems generous) follow a pattern of lightning speed, ultra-repetitive guitar riffing and a drummer—Mick "The Human Tornado" Harris—who attacks the cymbals like nobody since Sunny Murray.
Their first full-length album, Frozen Corpse Stuffed With Dope, is just as berserk and hilarious as the title would indicate, but it’s also a staggeringly complex, meticulously assembled piece of audio art.
the earlier carcass albums are nor as mature as the one i mentioned and the latter albums are admittedly not very good (too much "pop").

Split between the original lineup, with Broadrick and Bullen, and the next one, with Dorrian, Steer, and Shane Embury, Scum is a portrait of a place, time, and state of mind.
Interspersed throughout all this on various songs are more obviously deliberate constructions -- parts of the title track, say, or the focused chug-and-stomp start of "Siege of Power." They act as just enough pacing for the rampages elsewhere, where unrelenting, intense sound becomes its own part of weird ambient music, textures above all else.
