This is a test release of ScummVM for the GP2X, it would be appreciated if this alpha test distribution was not mirrored and that people be directed to http://www.distant-earth.com/scummvm instead, until the port is a little more mature, to ensure people download the most recent builds.

I guess that’s about it for now, the addition of the code to ScummVM’s main CVS seemed a worthwhile enough cause for a long overdue update and the fact I have some time currently to spend on it is a big plus point.

ScummVM is an interpreter that allows you to play Lucasarts' back catalog of point and click adventure games on modern computers.
ScummVM is written in portable C++ and has been ported to many differnet platforms, and I have made a port of it to the DS.

ScummVM for the GP2X is now an official port.
For feedback on the build there is a forum post in ScummVMs GP2X forum.
Sometimes it crashes when I shut scummvm down and the fighting sequences in Indy & the last crusade don't work yet.

ScummVM is an emulator that runs classic adventure games that were built using the SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) system and some games that were not built on SCUMM on modern operating systems.
ScummVM can run game files from your hard drive and from the CD, and you can run the games directly from the CD.
The last problem I found has nothing to do with the software; some of these games are very old, and if you have them and can’t download them, it may prove a challenge to run games from 3 1/2 floppy disks and definitely from a 5 1/4 floppy disks.

PayPal claims that ScummVM violates their Acceptable Usage Policy, as it allows games to be played on systems for which they were not originally sold.
I paid a lot of money back in ‘92 for my copy of “Fate of Atlantis” ScummVM is the ONLY way I can enjoy it on my mac, on the bus (via Mobile Phone), or at my work desk.

For those of you like me, for whom text based games, were a bit before our time, the graphical point-and-click adventure games are fondly remembered.
ScummVM is a cross-platform emulator based on the “Scumm”; scripting language created by LucasArts.
You can download the program for free at the ScummVM site and suddenly I am able to play some of the greatest games of all time, (in my opinion), from the comfort of my Mac- there is a Windows version too.

ScummVM was ported by Marcus Comstedt (known for DreamSNES) to the Dreamcast in 2002.
Work has just begun in late December 2005, so since the game has to be reimplemented from scratch by examining the game's executable and datafiles, work will be extremely slow on this engine.
This module is currently not in the main ScummVM sourcecode, as it needs to be cleaned up to meet ScummVM's coding criteria.

Scumm is short for "Script Creation Utility For Maniac Mansion" and is known as the interface for controlling old Lucasfilm/Lucasarts games using the mouse to activate verbs such as "open, pick up, talk to" etc. What you need is the original game files such as the graphics and music.
The ScummVM website has all the necessary information on which files you need from the original games in order for the game to work on the Mac.

The enterprising folks behind adventure-game emulator ScummVM have been forced to stop accepting donations after PayPal told them that their activities contravened the company's policy regarding software capable of playing a game on a "system it was not sold for".
You can read all about it on ScummVM's forum, where you can also find advice about how to email PayPal and make fun of them for being loonies.
As the ScummVM people point out, PayPal's decision makes "absolutely no sense for a project like ScummVM, which is often actively assisted by the original game developers and studios".

This is a new port of ScummVM that I put together a couple of months ago.
i was one of the testers involved in the last scummvm port and tried several times to convince guybrush to port the latest releases, but couldn't get him to response for quite a while now.
not only do i allready have experience with this, i also own almost every game playable on scummvm (exept those odd child games supported) and most of them are german, so i could test your port with other than english language versions, just to make sure everything works like it should.

I've been waiting for ScummVM for the PSP to be released for awhile now and I know a lot of people who would go crazy once a beta is released (or a full release for that matter, whatever comes first).
It would seem it was displayed by the PSP kernel rather than the ScummVM engine, since it wasn't upscaled like all the ScummVM output.
