		The 232 were not withdrawn from service; many of the old vehicles were upgraded with new radio communication equipment, replacing the "bedstead" with more modern and compact wire antennae.
		These vehicles are often referred to as SdKfz 232 (Fu) (8-Rad) (Fu; Funkapparat; radio, Rad;wheel) It used 20 mm ammunition and had a muzzle velocity of 899 m/s, the 232 also carried 1 x 7.92 calibre MG.
		The SdKfz 234/1 was fitted with a 20 mm KwK38 gun and coaxial 7.92 mm MG34 machine gun in a rotating six-sided open turret (the open turret was protected from grenades by a mesh-covered frame).

		In the mid-1930s, while the Sd.Kfz 231 (8-Rad) heavy eight-wheeled armored vehicle was being introduced, the German command considered the experience gained operating the similar Sd.Kfz 231 (6-Rad) and Sd.Kfz 232 (6-Rad) armored vehicles.
		The Sd.Kfz 232 (Fu) (8-Rad) was first used during the annexation of Austria and Czechoslovakia, and its first combat experience was obtained in the Polish campaign in autumn 1939 where radio communication cars proved their ability in infantry support, especially during intense street fighting.
		232 (Fu) (8-Rad) were upgraded to a gun version, the Sd.Kfz 233 "Stummel", while others were upgraded with new radio communication equipment and returned to the front where they continued their military service.

		The box has very evocative box art of an SdKfz 231 in Russia during the frozen winter of 1941/1942, with a four-view colour rendition of one of the four markings options on the back of the box (only Humbrol colours are called out in the instructions, incidentally).
		The bow armour is not unique to the SdKfz 232, however, and should be fitted to almost all SdKfz 231s in service from 1941 on (most early production vehicles had the shield retrofitted).

		The first model of this kind I purchased was the ALBY Sd.Kfz 232.
		I think creating a real accurate copy of the SdKfz 232 without a computer is almost impossible as it has so many angled suraces and weird measures, maybe the correct shape must be something in between the MarS and ALBY kit.
		Now you have to think that visibility for the crew was always bad inside a SdKfz 232 especially for the driver, on most photographs you will notice that most of the vision flaps are open or at least the ones that surround the drivers seat.

		I converted Esci SdKfz 250 in to the ammocarrier SdKfz 252.
		I'm working on a StuG to acompany it and found a drawing of the ammotrailer at last.
		This is an Esci Sd.Kfz 251 Ausf.C which has been modified into an Ausf.D so that I could mount an Airfix PaK40 on an scratchbuilt lavettage.
