Sea Wolf missile - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sea Wolf is powered by the Blackcap solid-fuel rocket to a maximum velocity of Mach 2 and can intercept targets in the range of 300 to 6500m and 10 to 3000m in altitude.
Sea Wolf also suffered from problems with hardware failure causing launches to fail, and broken lock resulting from the extreme sea conditions and the Argentine's low altitude hit-and-run tactics.
As of 1991 Sea Wolf/LWTis said to have a 70% hit chance and VL Sea Wolf is said to have 80% kill rate.

ScienceDaily: Sea Cat missile   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
Sea Cat was a British short-range surface to air missile system intended to replace the ubiquitous Bofors 40 mm gun aboard warships of all sizes.
Sea Cat was designed by Short Brothers of Belfast for use against fast jet aircraft that were proving to be too difficult for the WWII-era Bofors guns to successfully intercept.
Sea Cat was widely used in NATO and Commonwealth navies that purchased British equipment and has been used with a wide array of guidance systems.

The Falkland Islands Conflict, 1982: Air Defense Of The Fleet
In that instance, the missile scored no hit and the vessel itself was damaged by a bomb released by the attacking aircraft.10 The only other use of the missile was in a surface to surface role where it was used to attack an Argentine position near Stanley.
It is interesting to note that a Type 21 frigate armed with the Sea Cat missile and two 20mm guns was expected to engage a modern aircraft, whereas a World War II ship of the same size had 12 to 16 40mm and 12 20mm guns to shoot down a propeller driven aircraft.
Generally, it is their objective to destroy attacking aircraft (and their missiles, if any) at as far from the task force as possible since destroying the aircraft before it launches an anti ships missile not only destroys the missile for that mission but, prevents the aircraft from returning for a subsequent attack.

SEA WOLF   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
Sea Wolf ~s a fully automatic point defence system with radio command to line-of-sight guidance coupled with radar differential or low light TV tracking.
The missile's maneuverability and speed allows it to engage small Mach 2 anti-ship missiles and aircraft targets under severe weather conditions and sea states down to low altitudes.
Further to improve the missile's capabilities and range, a vertical-launch capability, first demonstrated in 1968 from HMS Loch Fada when it was considered to be of low priority, will be used aboard the new Type 23 'Daring' class frigates when they are eventually ordered.
