  Beck: Sea Change (2002): Reviews
Sea Change not only signals a pinnacle in his career but may just be remembered, in an environment fueled by accelerating cycles of disposable culture, as one of this young decade's best records.
Sea Change is different (and, in a way, less interesting) than everything Beck has previously done, but he has a rare gift that he shares with precious few artists, Prince and Bob Dylan amongst them: no matter what he does, Beck will always be interesting.
Sea Change, while still a very good disc, is a disappointment in that it marks the first time Beck has ever retraced his steps.

BBC - Rock & Alt Review - Beck, Sea Change
Sea Change is startling in its atmosphere and mood.
Sea Change reminds me of every kind of loss: my imagination runs wild in fields of passing, loved things left, deaths, aging, breakups, --everything I have to lack--but there it is in my sad imagination and it is beautiful and I thank Beck for affixing all this change to an artifact.
Sea Change is more akin to Mutations than his other albums, due to that sonorous, sepulchral quality, but it stands, as all of Beck's albums do, alone.

The rate of mean sea level rise or fall has been determined for 117 long term water level stations.
Monthly mean sea level data were used to obtain the linear trend, the average seasonal cycle, and the interannual variations.
Assuming no change in trend, the time series of interannual variations are extended up to the latest month and maps are created to show the regional extent of anomalously high or low water levels.

Experts said sea birds, such as guillemots and puffins, might gradually have to move northwards while the decline of the kittiwake, one of Scotland's most common seabirds, which has seen its numbers fall by half over the past 15 years, has been linked to increasing winter temperatures.

The Arctic's sea ice is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including polar bears, arctic foxes, seals, walruses, and whales, fish species such as Arctic cod and char, and sea birds such as guillemots, auks, and eiders.
The sea ice is also used as an important transportation route by caribou and muskox and a traditional hunting ground for the Inuit, that remarkable indigenous culture of the far north.
Many species of seal are ice-dependent, including the spotted seal, which in the Bering Sea breeds exclusively at the ice edge in spring; the harp seal, which lives at the ice edge all year; the ringed seal, which give birth to and nurse their pups on sea ice; the ribbon seal and the bearded seal.

It is likely that much of the rise in sea level has been related to the concurrent rise in global temperature over the last 100 years.
The rate of observed sea level rise suggests that there has been a net positive contribution from the huge ice sheets of Greenland and Antarctica, but observations of the ice sheets do not yet allow meaningful quantitative estimates of their separate contributions.
The ice sheets remain a major source of uncertainty in accounting for past changes in sea level because of insufficient data about these ice sheets over the last 100 years.

This rich language has so captivated the ears of generations of writers that they feel compelled to describe as “sea changes” not only alterations that are “rich and strange,” but, less appropriately, those that are simply large or sudden.
Always popular, this cliché has recently become so pervasive as to make “sea” an almost inextricable companion to “change,” whatever its meaning.
In its original context, it meant nothing more complex than “a change caused by the sea.” Since the phrase is almost always improperly used and is greatly over-used, it has suffered a swamp change into something dull and tiresome.

The proper form is indeed "sea change," and I've been hearing it a lot lately too.
"Sea change," which means a profound change or transformation in the nature of something, was coined, as many of our best English words and phrases were, by William Shakespeare.
By "sea change" (which seems to have lately lost its hyphen in common usage) Shakespeare meant a radical, fundamental transformation, metaphorically similar to the change wrought by prolonged submersion under water.
