A thrilling epic of a sea voyage and a complex novel of ideas, The Sea-Wolf is a standard-bearer of its genre.
In the early chapters the narrator implies that Wolf Larsen was quite attractive to women, that they would forget about morals and succumb to his charms.
Although, Wolf Larsen (as said in the book) was made well by god and I probably wouldn't care if he was such a jerk, I think I'd like him.

Wolf Larson (Edward G. Robinson) is the psychopathic captain of the Ghost, a veritable death ship for its crew, many of whom have been shanghaied.
The sealing- ship Ghost functions in a similar manner in THE SEA WOLF, and it is not difficult to note certain resemblances between Walter Slezak's character of the Nazi captain in LIFEBOAT and that of Wolf Larsen as portrayed by Robinson in THE SEA WOLF.

I remember liking the movie a lot, mostly the philosophical talks between Wolf Larsen and Humphrey Van Weyden, and because at that time I was studying Milton's Paradise Lost, I mostly enjoyed the PL allusion in the Sea Wolf.
Likewise, Larsen prefers to command brutes at sea, and, like a god, to have a right of life and death over them, rather than be a nobody in a society where he would have to abide by the rules.
I think the character of Wolf Larsen is one of the unforgettable characters in literature, even though I was disappointed by his unworthy demise (I did not remember this from the movie).
