Eg Loch Ness seems appropriate because it is a formal title, but I am not sure about Loch Ness is a loch.
I believe in Ireland a nearby loch or lough is often called 'the lake'.
Loch includes Sea loch but this is not immediately clear in the article itself.

There is a largish garden, with a small burn running through and it backs on to the hillside so you can walk up the hill from there.
To the front there are a couple of fields and then a beach on Loch Linnhe with an island in front which has a large family of Canada Geese.
Loch Linnhe is a long sea-loch which goes up from Oban and Mull to Fort William at the top.

Then the road runs beside the line roughly on the level before dropping only slightly to come out at the head of Loch Eil - which is a sea loch and surely must be at sea level!" I thought of the route in reverse.
The road is just above the level of Loch Eil, climbs gently a little way then swoops down and round a long way to reach the Glenfinnan Monument on the shore of Loch Shiel.
