	Seawall - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Seawalls and retaining walls (bulkheads) are included in the single generic classification of walls.
		A seawall is a form of hard coastal defense constructed on the inland part of a coast to reduce the effects of strong waves and to defend the coast around a town or harbour from erosion.
		The term is typically used to describe walls built on the land parallel to the coast, but may also apply to breakwaters and groynes which are built in the water.

		Sea level could rise 40 to 65 cm by the year 2100, due to predicted greenhouse-gas-induced climate warming.

		These Earth motions are caused by ongoing adjustments of Earth's crust to the removal of the former ice sheets, tectonic deformation, subsidence of river deltas under sediment loads, and extraction of underground water, oil, or natural gas near the coast.

		In quick summary, after a December storm, the DCR determined that several hundred yards of the sea wall is in danger of collapsing due to many years of erosion (and the DCR's neglect and mismanagement).
		Are we to believe that this sea wall will cause such a public menace that they have to immediately spend $2 million and dump tons of stone along the beach, essentially closing the beach for a temporary fix?
		I propose the DCR seriously reconsider their misguided decision and go back to the people of the South Shore for their thoughts before ecologic and economic disaster strikes the communities that rely on Nantasket Beach.
