Seabury Ford, the twentieth governor of Ohio, was born in Cheshire, New Haven County, Connecticut, on October 15, 1801.
Ford was an admirer of Henry Clay, and campaigned vigorously for the Kentuckian in the presidential election of 1844.
Ford granted pardons to the deserving, and restored order in the prison by a personal appeal in which he promised additional pardons to those who would keep their heads and aid in nursing the sick until the epidemic had run its course.

Ford joined the new Whig party when it was organized in 1834, and the next year he was elected to the lower house of the thirty-fourth general assembly.

A 1999 Ford sport utility vehicle operated by William C. Carpenter, 78, of P.O. Box 1679, York Beach, and a 1996 Ford van operated by Maryellen Phillips, 43, of 176 Mountain Road, Cape Neddick, were in collision at the Dead River station on Route 1 at 11:28 a.m.
A 1988 Ford van operated by James H. Nichols, 56, of 400 Brackett Road, Rye, N.H., and a 1996 Honda sedan owned by Maria R. Davila of 236 Greast Road, Stow, Mass., operated by Merisa A. Shea, 17, of the same address, were in collision on the off ramp from Interstate 95 at 12:50 p.m.
Damage was estimated at $200 to the Lincoln, $4,000 to the Ford sedan, and $2,000 to the Ford van.

The contested gubernatorial election was between Whig candidate Seabury Ford and Democrat John B. Weller.
Ford was opposed to slavery, while Weller was thought to be a Southern sympathizer.

Portage County Common Pleas Judge Joseph Kainrad, who, like Martell, early in his career practiced law with the late Seabury Ford, a longtime attorney, said he fondly remembers the judge from when the two first started working together in the early 1970s.
He noted that Martell was a family man, very proud of his sons, and active as a little league coach.
Following his practice with Seabury Ford, Judge Martell practiced law with attorney Frank Cimino in Ravenna until becoming judge.

His opponet, the Whig candidate, was Seabury FORD, and the campaign was the fiercest and most bitter ever known in this State.
This was virtually a fight to decide the presidential question as far as Ohio was concerned; for it was conceded that if WELLER carried the State, CASS would get Ohio's vote.

In 1970, we had the Portage Country Grand Jury Commission, which was as biased as it was disingenuous.
That commission served to contrast the Presidential report on Campus unrest, and the FBI summary report, by instilling the likes of Seabury Ford (a former Ohio National Guardsmen) to run a commission that was designed to place blame on the students.
In other words, Bush and company are up to similar tricks, and residing over a nation divided and at war-- just as Nixon was.
