Seacombe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Seacombe is a district of the town of Wallasey, on the Wirral Peninsula, Merseyside, England.
The first of these is one of the terminals for the Mersey Ferry, the legendary "Ferry 'cross the Mersey" immortalised in song by Gerry and the Pacemakers.
Seacombe was originally a terminus for the Wirral Railway however passenger services ended in January 1960 and all services on the line terminated in June 1963.

 Subterranea Britannica: SB-Sites: Seacombe Station
The line on which the terminal station of Seacombe stood was the last addition to the Wirral Railway Companies network of lines that stretched from Birkenhead to West Kirby and to New Brighton.
The branch to Seacombe left the New Brighton branch at Seacombe Junction from where heavy engineering was required to drive the line through a sandstone ridge and through to the banks of the Mersey at Seacombe.
Receipts from the Seacombe branch were never that good for the Wirral Railway and when it became part of the LMS in 1923 the new company eventually gave up on passenger services concentrating on goods, which was always busy on the branch.

The Professor by Charlotte Bronte 1
Seacombe, hinted that when I became rector of Seacombe-cum-Scaife, I might perhaps be allowed to take, as mistress of my house and head of my parish, one of my six cousins, his daughters, all of whom I greatly dislike.
To think of passing the winter evenings by the parlour fire-side of Seacombe Rectory alone with one of them - for instance, the large and well-modelled statue, Sarah - no; I should be a bad husband, under such circumstances, as well as a bad clergyman.
Of this I was apprised by the occasional short letters I received from him, some three or four times a year; which said letters never concluded without some expression of determined enmity against the house of Seacombe, and some reproach to me for living, as he said, on the bounty of that house.
