Seaford is a coastal town in the county of East Sussex, England, on the south coast, east of Newhaven, Brighton and west of Eastbourne.
Seaford has one of the longest serving Town Criers in England and Wales - Peter White - who was appointed to this honorary position in 1977 by Lewes District Council.
Seaford railway station which serves the town is the terminus of the line from Lewes via Newhaven.

Seaford is a small town lying south of Lewes on the coast, and on the opposite side of the river Ouse from the port of Newhaven.
By 1290 Seaford was one of the major ports in the South of England exporting wool from the area and importing wine.
Seaford used to have a fine harbour which by the late 1500's had silted up, making landing impossible, and the harbour was moved to nearby Newhaven about 2 miles to the west some time before 1565.

On October the 22nd, 2006, widely regarded as Seaford Storm's most important and 'biggest' match to date, the side that had dominated the East Sussex league, Lewes, and had a number of its players signed up to the county (Sussex) played Seaford at their home ground in the Salts recreation ground.
Seaford did not score but a few runs were made from the little ball supplied to the backs (with inhibited positions) and the forwards often charged forward gaining metres every time.

There was an ancient parish called Sutton, which was annexed to Seaford The ancient parish church had certainly been demolished by 1840, with the foundations traceable in the "desecrated churchyard" to quote the Pigot 1840 directory.
The site if the ancient church is near Alfriston Road, approximately opposite Sutton Drove in what used to be the grounds of the old Sutton Place school; a site now redeveloped as housing.
Sutton parish became part of St Leonard's, Seaford around the 15th century, giving rise to the full name of Seaford parish church: St Leonard's, Sutton cum Seaford.
