Topic: Sean Yseult

SFBG A and E   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-12)
White Zombie's Sean Yseult is metal's reigning bass goddess -- torn cartilage, pulled ligaments, and all.
Yseult's booming bass is integral to the barrage of syncopated noise and sampled artifacts that make up White Zombie's sound.
Yseult was learning guitar when she started White Zombie with fellow Parsons student Rob Zombie in 1985, but she switched to bass for expediency's sake.

Louis St. Lewis has over the years attained a degree of notoriety in the Carolinas, where he was born either in Charleston to a clan of dry-docked yacht-owning gentry, or else in North Carolina's rural hill country, depending on which bio one chooses to believe.
Sean Yseult is also a North Carolinian, and in recent years a Big Easy resident.
Yseult's photography appears as backlit images in lightboxes framed with red velvet curtains, so there's a sense of theater, or old-time cinema, appropriate to her subjects: voluptuous odalisques posed like Sarah Bernhardt on tiger-skin rugs, or Ophelia-like maidens awash in seaweed.

After separating from their more conventional rock bands (White Zombie and New York Loose respectively) in the mid-'90s, bassist Sean Yseult and guitarist/vocalist Brijette West dawned dual surf guitars and glittery horror outfits, and formed the unlikely joke-band Famous Monsters.
Having worked so long with Rob Zombie, it could hardly be a surprise that Yseult would want to dive headfirst into campy garage-surf degeneration, but West's grittier musical past had nothing whatsoever to do with the goofy theatrics of Famous Monsters.
Yseult became Devil Doll (or the red one), while West dawned the equally original moniker Vampire Girl (or the fl one), and the pair were off and running.
