A new quay wall is being built in front of the old one as to guarantee a continuous depth of 8 m.
The Port of Ostend will take advantage of this new situation by providing a new ro-ro pontoon to create an additional ferry berth, in junction with the terminal at the “Zeewezendok”, which ‘Searoad Stevedores’ now has in concession.
At the same time the port took advantage of this opportunity to build a ro-ro pontoon on the other side so that the ‘Cockerill’ quay can be used as a ro-ro quay.
