Sears Canada purchased Eatons in 1999 for $50 million (C$80 million), converting 12 stores to the Sears banner and keeping seven mainly downtown locations under the Eatons name.

Sears, Roebuck and Co. has agreed to pay $150,000 to settle a nearly 10-year-old disability discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the federal agency said Monday.
After the second reversal, the case was set for trial, and the parties reached agreement to settle the case.
The settlement also requires that the Sears River Oaks store provide training to managers and supervisors regarding disability discrimination, stop engaging in disability discrimination, report any allegations of disability discrimination to the agency over the next 18 months and post a notice informing employees of the consent decree.
