Based on the preliminary figures, this year's harvest is the second highest in the 15 year history of the permit bow season.
County harvest records for the permit bow season were set in Burlington (615 deer), Camden (100 deer), Essex (38 deer), Middlesex (239 deer), Monmouth (568 deer) and Ocean (412 deer) counties.
By harvesting a sufficient number of antlerless deer in each zone, populations are maintained in a healthy condition and at levels that minimize conflicts between deer and people.

It was desired that antlerless harvest be reduced in most of central and southern New Hampshire to help mitigate the effects of the severe winter of 2002-03 and to help in achieving deer population increase objectives.
Some of the reduction in the 2003 harvest relative to 2002 is also attributable to the lack of early snow cover in 2003 compared to the 2002 season.
Harvest data are now being analyzed in detail to insure that the WMU specific age-sex structure of the 2003 harvest was consistent with the desire to reduce the antlerless harvest in many WMUs and that the physical condition of the deer continues to indicate a healthy population.

The season closes on Dec. 8 in the eastern zone, Dec. 31 in the northern zone, and Jan. 31 in the western zone.
This is a decrease of 310 permits from the 2003 season.

The Department of Natural Resources today announced preliminary estimates of the 2004 Michigan firearm deer season harvest which indicate approximately 285,000 deer were taken, of which an estimated 60-percent were antlered and 40-percent were antlerless.
The total deer harvest from all seasons this year is expected to exceed 450,000 deer.
The preliminary firearm season harvest is estimated through a survey of southbound traffic during the 16-day firearm season and DNR Wildlife Division employees’ assessment of the season.

Wildlife Biologists had expected the antlerless harvest to be down this year because of some changes to the season and the abundance of acorn mast which kept deer widely disbursed and less vulnerable to the gun.
The reduction in the bow harvest can be primarily attributed to the widespread and abundant hard mast which kept deer in the woods and scattered making them less vulnerable to hunters.

Of course there is a list for growing vegetables all year round.But apart from the list what one can grow during the colder season,it is just pretty much a recapitulation of the first work Coleman put on paper.
So I still give this book 4 Stars.Because if you have not read his first one,then of course it would be a great book.
