Juan Ponce de León - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Tainos had told the Spanish of a large, rich island to the north named Bimini, and Ponce de Leon was searching for gold, slaves and lands to claim and govern for Spain, all of which he hoped to find at Bimini and other islands.
The story of Ponce de León searching for the Fountain of Youth seems to have surfaced in the 1560s in the Memoir of Hernando de Escalante Fontaneda, and was later included in the Historia general de los hechos de los Castellanos of Antonio de Herrera y Tordesillas.
Ponce de León then sailed south along the Florida coast, charting the rivers he found, passed around the Florida Keys, and up the west coast of Florida to Cape Romano.

Cali as the other places of the country, doesn’t have seasons; in fact, its weather is quiet similar as living an eternal spring.
The Spanish conqueror Sebastian de Belalcazar, who came from Peru and was under Francisco Pizarro’s forces; came to the presently Valle del Cauca and founded for the first time the city of Cali in the region of Calima which in that time was populated by the Indians “Gorrones”, best known for their belligerence.
About the name of the city, some people attribute it due to a mispronunciation of the word “Lili”, which was the name Indians referred to the river that was close and it meant “white ground” or just because it was the name of the cacique who lived there like it happened in other cases.
