		The Second Vienna Award was the second of two Vienna Awards.
		The (re)gain of Slovakia and Subcarpathia (part of what was called Upper Hungary within the former Kingdom of Hungary) in 1938 (First Vienna Award/First Vienna Diktat) and the subsequent military conquest of the remaining Carpathian Ruthenia in 1939 did not satiate the Hungarian politics, as well as the Hungarian public opinion.
		The ministers of foreign affairs of the Axis (Joachim von Ribbentrop of Germany and Galeazzo Ciano of Italy) announced the award August 30, 1940 at the Belvedere Palace, Vienna.

	Vienna Awards - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The Vienna Awards, Vienna Arbitration Awards, Vienna Arbitral Awards, Vienna Diktats or Viennese Arbitrals are various names for two arbitral awards (1938 and 1940) by which arbiters of National Socialist Germany and Fascist Italy sought to enforce peacefully the territorial claims of Revisionist Hungary, ruled by Regent Admiral Miklós Horthy.
		The awards sanctioned Hungary's annexation of territories in present-day Slovakia, Ukraine and Romania which Hungary had lost by the 1920 Treaty of Trianon at the end of World War I, and which Hungary had sought to regain in the period between the two World Wars.
		Besides the Second Vienna Award as such, on September 7, under the Treaty of Craiova, the Cadrilater or "Quadrilateral" (southern Dobrudja) was returned by Romania to Bulgaria.

		The first Vienna Award of 1938 returned parts of Czechoslovakia (Southern Slovakia and Carpathian Ruthenia) with predominantly Hungarian population.
		The second Vienna Award returned the northern part of Transylvania in September 1940.
		The Treaty of Peace with Hungary signed on 10 February 1947 declared that "The decisions of the Vienna Award of 2 November 1938 are declared null and void" and Hungarian boundaries were fixed along the former frontiers as they existed on 1 January 1938, except a minor loss of territory on the Czechoslovakian border.

		A protocol signed in conjunction with the Second Vienna Award in August of 1940 committed Bucharest to treating the members of the German ethnic group in Romania equally in every way with its Romanian nationals and to continuing to improve their status.

		The Board of Governors of the American Musical Instrument Society designated Gerhard Stradner the recipient of the Curt Sachs Award for the year 2001 in recognition of his service as Director of the Collection of Ancient Musical Instruments of the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna, and for his published research in organology and historical performance practice.
		He has also been awarded the title of Hofrat (equivalent to that of Privy Councillor in Great Britain) by the Austrian government as a sign of his distinction.
		The American Musical Instrument Society presented Gerhard Stradner with the Curt Sachs Award for 2001 at an awards ceremony during the thirtieth annual meeting of the society, held at the University of North Carolina at Asheville.

		After the defeat of the Ottomans at the Battle of Vienna in 1683, the Habsburgs gradually began to impose their rule on the formerly autonomous Transylvania.
		King Ferdinand I of Romania and Queen Maria of Romania were crowned at Alba Iulia in 1922 as King of all Romania.

		VIENNA, AUSTRIA (8TH SEPTEMBER) Italian Guido Cappellini seems to have turned around his bad run of luck at the last round in Germany and has come to take the pole being the only driver to push a sub 40 second lap for tomorrow’s Grand Prix of Austria on the Danube River.
		Cappellini, the 5-time World Champion and lead driver of the Assicom Team set his time in the one full practice session in late afternoon when the water was rough and did a 39.48 second tour for a speed of 160.48 kph.
		Gillman and Cappellini are now tied with 110 points for the pole position award at the end of the season.
