		The subject of this memoir was born Oct. 13, 1820, in the State of New York, and was the fifth in a family of nine children.
		Secord was pressed into the British army, but made his escape to the States and enlisted in the army of the United States.
		Secord was formerly a Republican in politics, but the last few years has acted with the Greenback party, though voting in all minor offices for whom he considered the best man.

		Secord is the township’s third oldest fire department in Gladwin County behind Gladwin and Beaverton.

		The Otsego Fire Department and Rescue serves the City of Otsego and Otsego Township, as well as other neighboring communities by mutual aid agreement.
		Last year, the department responded to 115 fire calls and 321 calls for the rescue unit which includes medical emergencies, vehicle extrication, confined space rescue, ice rescue and high angle/rope rescue.
