SpiderFan.org - Comics : Reviews : Secret War: From the Files of Nick Fury
We are given access to Nick Fury's secret files and personal notes as he muses over what has happened to bring him to this impasse, and which members of the Marvel superhero community should help bail him out.
The quarterly Secret War is running so late that Marvel felt obliged to put out this title to remind us that Secret War continues to exist and they will get around to finishing it eventually.
This material is used for the purposes of informed discussion, and is not intended to interfere with Marvel's right to use said material for their own commercial goals.

 The Comics Reporter
Comics is a vastly underappreciated art form, capable of the same searing insights, the same expressions of inner truth, available to artists in every other media.
Benefit comic books were done in support of specific industry-related actions just as often as they were put together to fight larger social ills.
Hopefully, reading the comic will have a long-range effect on you, serving as either a reminder or an initial, heady alarm that comics is an art form that deserves to have protected its right to expression.

On Comics, Canons, and Things You Should read
Comics can be studied much like any other art form, and the narratives presented in comics can be emotional and compelling, two words rarely associated with superheroes except by ‘fanboys’ and ‘true believers’.
To view the greatest comics of our time as a collection of celebrity, collectible superhero revivals is to ignore the vast potential of the medium.
The term ‘adult comics’ has become popular, and is often used to denote comics written for mature audiences and often termed ‘comics literature’.

Don Markstein's Toonopedia: The Secret Society of Super-Villains
DC Comics' Secret Society of Super-Villains was interesting enough to spark an imitator — Marvel's Super-Villain Team-Up, which started out teaming Doctor Doom and The Sub-Mariner, hit the stands a little over a year later.
Villains appearing throughout the Secret Society's run included, but were far from limited to, Chronos (The Atom), Felix Faust (Justice League of America), Bizarro (not usually played as a villain, but he was here), Blockbuster (Batman) and Professor Zoom (yet another Flash villain).
But its demise was hastened by an event remembered in the comic book community as "The DC Implosion" — a sudden decision on the part of the company's accounting department that many of its titles that started within the past couple of years weren't pulling their weight, and had to go immediately.

Secret Six relies on violence and the gross out reaction, rather than a solid story.

"Secret Comics Japan" is a very strange and diverse book, with a range of different stories in a nice selection of different artistic styles.
The highlights of it for me were the very cute but very weird "the life of Momongo" by Junko Mizuno, the very funny and slightly warped "Punctures" by Shintaro Kago and some downright hilarious stuff by Usumaru Furuya.

 The Comics Reporter
A mix of approaches and styles, with a letters section that recommends other comics, Soto's Secret Voice straddles the divide between the recurring serials of art-comics in the early to mid-1990s with the wild genre mixing and unabashed embrace of neglected genres one sees in the Fort Thunder school and its spiritual satellites.
Pamphlet comics are not doing the booming business that graphic novels are, but I think there's room for good serialized comics to find an audience.
Not only that, but I know several excellent cartoonists who are working on their own comics that will be coming out soon or have already started coming out, so I feel like the next year or two will be a good time for fans of alt-comics that are actually comics and not books.

For most comics satirist, the plot of the story is just a set-up for gags and a twist ending.
Comics fans will be especially fascinated by ongoing character Irving Flavor, a retired cartoonist from the silver age of comics.
Robinson's affectionate portrayal of Flavor's geriatric crankiness is tempered by respect for the skill and vision comics legends brought to the artform.

Jae created a mod for the Comic PHP script that allows integration with Live Journal to have a Live Journal Comic feed.
The PHP Comic script is date driven so if a more crafty user decided to try and look for a comic you uploaded ahead of time by typing the date in as the file name he could probably find it.
This prevents that from happening so you can upload comics in advance and nobody can "cheat" and take a peek too soon.

As penned by Conway successor Bob Rozakis -- whose contributions to DC Comics lore, writing- wise, are sorely missed, incidentally -- Luthor's estimation of the SSOSV's scattershot shenanigans, at that juncture in the narrative, was best summed up as: "Nice panzer division.
