CHAPTER 7: A MAYALAND AGRICULTURAL SECTOR MODEL
Sector models also raise interesting theoretical issues that go beyond the specifics of the agricultural sector and are found a wide variety of planning situations.
The model is solved with the same steps as the farming systems model, i.e., the cell to be maximized is identified, the constraints (including the balance equations) are specified, and the non-negativity conditions are entered.
However, unlike the econometric models from which supply elasticities are estimated, the actual data required for the sector model are the same commodity budgets that are used in the PAM approach.

 Models
For the economic model, part of the growth comes from the positive feedback inherent in the multiplier-accelerator effect commonly used in economic growth models: production provides income, which is either consumed or invested, leading to additional demand and increased production.
The Population model is a cohort component model with the cohorts divided by gender and into 80 age cohorts.
The model assumes that needed imports of energy are partially met (depending on the country's economic ability) from the rest of the world.

 Optimal Two-Sector Growth
The central result of the Uzawa (1961, 1963) two-sector growth model is that the uniqueness of factor market ("momentary") equilibria and the stability of the steady-state growth path depends crucially on the relative factor-intensities of the two sectors and attendant savings hypotheses.
As it happened, the Uzawa-Srinivasan attempt to find "optimal growth" in a two-sector model preceded and was in fact the impetus for the resurrection of the Ramsey one-sector optimal growth model by David Cass (1965) and Tjalling C. Koopmans (1965).
Models of monetary growth, stemming from the contributions of James Tobin (1965) onwards, for instance, can be considered to be a type of two-sector model with room for government activity -- but now "money creation" is our second "sector".

The sport sector provides facilities, services and programs that contribute to opportunities for people to engage in activities that require physical effort and skills, are competitive, have formal rules and are organised within institutional structures.
The industry peak bodies for the outdoor recreation sector are the Outdoor Council of Australia at the national level and the Queensland Outdoor Recreation Federation at state level.

Three Models of Urban Land Use
These models were developed to generalize about the patterns of urban land use found in early industrial cities of the U.S. Because the shape and form of American cities changed over time, new models of urban land were developed to describe an urban landscape that was becoming increasingly complex and differentiated.
Despite these criticisms, these models continue to be useful generalizations of the way in which land is devoted to different uses within the city.

Alternative-fuel shares are projected on the basis of a multinomial logit vehicle attribute model, subject to State and Federal government mandates.
It also estimates travel demand, fuel efficiency, and energy consumption for the fleet vehicles prior to their transition to the private sector at predetermined vintages.

According to Amaral, private sector agents must monitor the regulations to ensure they create the conditions to attract investment because the "government does not have the 20 bn reais ($ 7 bn) a year that the sector needs."  Industrial Relations Theory: Lessons from a Private Sector Model for Public Sector Transformation - Restructuring Local ...
In contrast to earlier models of industrial relations which did not go much beyond the importance of external factors and management's reaction to them (see Dunlop's footnote), in the 1990s a new model was devised which places management in the role of the initiator of workplace innovation.
The position of public sector elected officials demands that their actions and decisions be in the interest of the public good, yet they are also potentially compelled to make decisions which will help them to retain their position in office.
Dunlop's model worked well to organize the labor-management relationship into a framework in the 1960s and 1970s, but it worked only as long as there existed stability in the environmental forces and a shared consensus of the key actors in the employment.

A Value Model for the Public Sector
Although the matter of value in the private sector is by no means simple, there are at least generally accepted ways of measuring it, such as shareholder value analysis.
The Accenture Public Sector Value Model (see Sidebar 1) adapts the principles of commercial shareholder value analysis to a government context, enabling governments at all levels to assess how effectively their resources generate meaningful value for the average citizen.
According to Elliott Hibbs, director of the Arizona Department of Revenue, one primary benefit of the model is that it provides governments and agencies with a consistent basis for measuring value from one administration to the next.

Arthur Lewis's dual-sector model of development.
He points out that in order to create a modern industrial sector, a flow of labor and food surplus is necessary from agricultural sector to the modern industrial sector.
However, Rostow sees the flow of labor and food surpluses from agricultural sector to the industrial as a priority for an industrial development and he aims to achieve this through technological advancement.
However, Gerschenkron agrees with Rostow on the point that the labor and enough food to feed this labor should be transferred from the agricultural sector to the industrial sector for a successful industrial revolution although his method of transferring is different.
