 GMB Slams Sedgefield Council Over Council Housing Sale
The GMB Congress in Newcastle upon Tyne today were told that Sedgefield Borough Council is recommending that its Council Housing stock is to be sold off to Sunderland Housing Group.
The GMB Congress pledged to campaign with local groups to stop the privatisation of the Council Housing stock by pressing for the rental income and right to buy monies remain in Sedgefield and are made available for investment the in housing stock.
If these receipts were able to remain in Sedgefield and be available for investment the Council would be able to meet tenant aspirations without the need to consider other housing options.

A grant was awarded to Sedfield Borough Council to support the employment of a Community Liaison Officer (CLO) to lead a project which will enable the declaration of a further five Local Nature Reserves (LNRs).
The project will seek to involve new groups and individuals and the CLO will encourage local community participation in the development of LNR management plans and their implementation.
