  Sedgley - Wikipedia.
In 1897, the villages of Coseley, Ettingshall and Brierley broke away from the Manor of Sedgley to form the Urban District Council of Coseley.
Sedgley Urban District Council survived until 1966 when it became part of Dudley County Borough, which at the same time also took in the urban district councils of Coseley and Brierley Hill.
Sedgley really developed from a village into a town after the Second World War when thousands of residential and commercial properties were developed across the area.

Sedgley town centre's third chavviest pub is the Clifton which is part of the posh Wetherspoon chain but hardly any posh people go there because it is crowded with chavs who take advantage of the cigarette machine if they can't get served in an off licence like Virks or Hadens.
It is home to some of Sedgley's chavviest people including some who spend their lives roaming the streets shouting abuse at residents and throwing bricks at windows.
BURNSY is another of Sedgley's veteran chavs who has spent most of his life daubing his tag all over the place without even being caught.

The Sedgley Mansion was located on the south side of Girard Avenue, to the south of the course.
Sedgley fit Ed's vision of how a disc golf course should be designed: a predominance of short holes each requiring a great variety of shots.
Sedgley now has three tee placements for each basket, the blue "original 1977 tees", yellow "1984" tees and red "1991" tees (4,691 feet), however all of the baskets remain in their 1978 locations.

Sedgley's beacon would have almost certainly have been lit in August 1588, to signal the arrival of the Spanish Armada.
Sedgley Councillors tried this in the 1920s even having their photographs taken planting trees and bushes.
I love Sedgley Beacon, and have lived in Sedgley for 30 years or so, but it needs some more policing to stop kids from wrecking the place, plus some more facilities to occupy their time after school and at weekends.

 Sedgley Park School - The Roman Catholic School 1763 - 1873
The school initial intake was 12 pupils, sometimes referred to as the Twelve Apostles.
Though taking up the yearly option, in the autumn of 1868 it was announced that Cotton Hall would become a prep school for Sedgley Park, a precursor to moving out completely.
Today Sedgley Park is a top class hotel and has reverted to its original name of Park Hall.

Open class juniors sees seven sedgley riders in this group, Ian Skelding and Tiddles were the ones to watch in this race, Tiddles takes the hole-shot in his first race with Ian right behind, it wasn't long before Ian takes Tiddles, brilliant riding from these gave Ian second place with Tiddles in seventh.
Their second race of the day Ian takes the hole-shot with Tiddles hot on his heels, but as a red flag went up it was Ian with the win and Tiddles third.
There was only seven sedgley riders there this week but as it was an out of boarder group and the British MXGP was on this weekend it would explain why.

The club was formed in a bar in 1932, the first ground was a farmer’s field in Whitefield, although the club have never actually played in Sedgley Park itself.
When the Courage Leagues began in 1987 the club had progressed far enough to be placed in North West 2 and won promotion at the first attempt.
The club stayed in North West 1 for seven years, and as the move into professionalism through the mid nineties, Sedgley Park achieved promotion three years in succession.

The Sedgley Home inquiry team has placed advertisements in metropolitan newspapers and the Wairarapa Times-Age seeking information from former residents as it investigates allegations of sexual abuse at the boys home over 40 years ago.
News broke of sexual abuse at Sedgley when the Anglican Archbishop of Wellington, Thomas Brown, made a public apology in September on behalf of the church for the abuse one man said he had suffered at the home.
The five-member Sedgley inquiry team is due to make an interim report to the Sedgley board in December.

Situated halfway between Dudley and Wolverhampton, it's not far from the Sedgley Bull ring - not to be confused with the Birmingham one.
The hotel has steps at the front entrance, but can be accessed elsewhere by wheelchair users.
There is not much here in Sedgley any more, but the Beacon makes the trip worthwhile.
