The southern end of this closed depression in Sedgwick County corresponds with the 1,200-foot contour on Plate 3 which closes on both the north and south sides of a topographic saddle on the bedrock surface southwest of Wichita.
The sinks in Sedgwick County are shown as small lakes on the base maps of Plates 1 and 3.
The depositional sequence in Sedgwick County was probably the same as in much of Kansas, but sheet erosion and slope processes in Recent time have obliterated most surface expression, and sediments associated with the Wisconsinan depositional cycles together with Recent sediments are considered as a single unit in this report.

The Sedgwick County Commission deservedly has taken heat for dropping the idea of holding a casino advisory vote because anti-gambling area legislators objected.
The Sedgwick County delegation is probably getting their earfull of people calling them up and sending them mail on the matter of Casinos.
Like the Casino, though, I know that regardless of a Sedgwick County referendum on the Lake project, Topeka and NE Kansas will do everything they can to keep Wichita from being the economic powerbroker it once was before Johnson County took our flag.

Sedgwick County was created April 9th, 1889 from the northeastern corner of Logan County.
The first stage arrived in Denver on May 7, 1859 and the last on that route arrived on June 7, 1859, when the route was relocated to the Platte River [Julesburg] route.
