  Sefer Yetzirah
The "Sefer Yeẓirah" is exceedingly difficult to understand on account of its obscure, half-mystical style, and the difficulty is rendered still greater by the lack of a critical edition, the present text being admittedly much interpolated and altered.
The history of the study of the "Sefer Yetzirah" is one of the most interesting in the records of Jewish literature.
An intimate relation exists between the "Sefer Yetzirah" and the later mystics, and that, although there is a marked difference between the later Kabbalah and the "Sefer Yetzirah", the system laid down in the latter is the first visible link in the development of Kabbalistic ideas.

Sefer Yetzirah - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Sefer Yetzirah is devoted to speculations concerning God and the angels.
According to the Sefer Yetzirah, the first emanation from the spirit of God was the (= "spirit," "air") that produced fire, which, in its turn, formed the genesis of water.
As the Sefer Yetzirah divides the Hebrew alphabet into three groups, so the Gnostic Marcus divided the Greek letters into three classes, regarded by him as the symbolic emanations of the three powers which include the whole number of the upper elements.

Numerology and Classification in Sefer Yezirah and in the Chinese Tradition.
The central point of Sefer Yezirah is the interpretation of 32 primordial structure of existence as universal classificational rows.
The author of Sefer Yezirah compares division or classification of the letters according to their phonetic origin with the division of the creation in three spheres, establishing the corresponding correlation between them.
Sefer Yezirah constantly underlines the idea of God-Creator as a source and agent of all universal processes, but the Chinese thinkers without exception understand the cosmogonic process as natural and immanent.

Sefer Yetzirah (Hebrew, "Book of Creation", ספר יצירה) is the title of two books on esoteric Jewish mysticism.

The later Sefer Yetzirah is devoted to speculations concerning God and the angels.

The Sefer Yetzirah is a manual on the mystical nature of the Hebrew alphabet recorded by Master Abraham in the original Sinatic Hebrew alphabet.
We mentioned earlier that the Sefer Yetzirah is the textual source for the six-pointed star, commonly known as the “Star of David.” The Star of David, a two-dimensional symbol composed of two interlocking triangles, is easily the most recognizable symbol of the Jewish religion.

The Creator and the Computer: Sefer Yetsira
The Sefer Yesira, which dates from the early centuries of this era and is actually a group of texts which has been edited into one whole,[1] sought to provide some answers to these questions.
According to Sefer Yesira, God's "speech" was not talking in the sense of someone speaking, but rather a manipulation of the letters of the Hebrew alphabet.
Finally, he argues that Sefer Yesira was adopted as a "mystical" text only later in the twelfth century (18-22), a tradition that continued into the modern period including Scholem.

This interpretation of the Sefer Yetzirah leads directly to an understanding of mystical union as flux between binary opposites; phrased another way, this interpretation leads to an understanding of mystical union as existing outside of binary oppositions.
The techniques outlined in the Sefer Yetzirah for oscillating between opposing states of linguistic and non linguistic consciousness provide the mystic with a way to escape the dichotomies of language/nonlanguage, and finitude/infinity.

 SparkNotes: The Kabbalah: Sefer Yetzirah
The Sefer Yetzirah, which means “Book of Formation,” is a short book about the theories of ma’aseh bereshit, the mystical account of the creation of the universe.
The Sefer Yetzirah is the earliest Hebrew text of speculative mystical Jewish thought, appearing sometime between the third and sixth centuries C.E. Like the theories of ma’aseh bereshit, the Sefer Yetzirah addresses the creation of the universe, drawing heavily on images from the very beginning of Genesis, the first book of the Bible’s Old Testament.
The sefirot of the Sefer Yetzirah differ from the ten “aspects of God” that appear later in kabbalistic thought.

As a general summary, the Sefer Yetzirah introduces the idea of "ten sefirot", and the term "sefirot" (plural sefirah) itself is variously translated as text, number, or none of the above.

 SEPHER YETZIRAH
The "Sepher Yetzirah," although this name means "The Book of Formation," is not in any sense a narrative of Creation, or a substitute Genesis, but is an ancient and instructive philosophical treatise upon one aspect of the origin of the universe and mankind; an aspect at once archaic and essentially Hebrew.
The Kabalistic principles involved in the reversal of Hebrew letters, and their substitution by others, on definite schemes, should also be studied and borne in mind.
Attached to some editions of the "Sepher Yetzirah" is found this scheme of Kabalistic classification of knowledge emanating from the Second Sephira Binah, Understanding, and descending by stages through the angels, heavens, humanity, animal and vegetable and mineral kingdoms to Hyle and the chaos.
