Sega Rally Championship - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sega Rally Championship is a 1995 arcade racing game developed by Sega AM3 (later renamed Hitmaker) on the Sega Model 2 board.
The unique selling point of Sega Rally was the ability to drive on different surfaces (including asphalt, gravel and mud), with different friction properties, with the car's handling changing accordingly.
Another interesting feature is that the player can enter a "World Championship" mode consisting of three stages (Desert, Forest and Mountain) where their finishing position at the end of one course is carried through to the starting position of the next course.

The sound effects are also what you'd expect from any racing game, and the programmers at AM3 have taken advantage of the left and right audio channels.
AM3 was not satisfied with just and arcade clone, so they went on to include an extremely playable 2 player split-screen mode.

Granted that AM3 added another city in this Dreamcast port, that still only brings the total number of cities you can drive around in to a whopping 2 (and to be honest, the second one isnt all that different from the first).
It seems that all Dreamcast developers, Sega included, are ignorant to the fact that the Dreamcast comes with 4 controller ports.
Here's to hoping that Sega makes a game like this (but with more depth) again in the future because even with its flaws, Crazy Taxi is one of the many reasons to pick up a Dreamcast.
