Seison is a genus of rotifer, found on the gills of Nebalia, a marine crustacean.
It is considered to have diverged from the other rotifers early on, and is treated in a separate class, Pararotatoria.

Maeda Seison (1885-1977) was born in Nakatsugawa, a small town in Gifu Prefecture.
At the age of sixteen, Seison went to Tokyo determined to be a painter and enrolled in the private working atelier of Kajita Hanko, a painter widely known for his illustrations of novels.
Seison joined the Reorganized Japan Art Institute (Saiko Nihon Bijutsu-in) in 1914, exhibiting clear and dynamic paintings of historical figures and birds and flowers, utilizing the tradition of Yamato-e.as well as arts of the East and the West, old and new.

There is a narrow crease on the edge of one of the double fold-out illustrations.
This is the work of Maeda, Seison, a Japanese painter, 1885-1997.

Following her graduate degree from Kyoto University of Art and Design in 2003, she had a solo exhibition at Gallery GEN, in Tokyo's Ginza district, and again at the Shikisai Art Museum in Harajyuku, Tokyo.
In 2004 she was awarded a prize for her entry in the Seison Maeda Memorial Japanese Painting Exhibition and, in the same year, exhibited jointly with her mother, Rie, at the Exposition Exceptionelle in Paris.
Among the many innovative aspects of this promising young artist's work, influences from the work of both her mother and father are active, most notably in the manner in which she blends traditional Japanese painting materials with the application of lacquer, gold and silver leaf, for the surfaces of her paintings.

 Noritake Moriyama Enameled Porcelain Basket
Moriyama Pottery was established in 1911 by Hidekichi Nakamura who was taught pottery making by Seison Suzuki.
There are currently four studios continuing the Moriyama tradition in and around Mori-Machi and they are Seison, Seizon, Nakamura and Tame.
There seems to be two primary stamps: one appears to be a crown with a wreath of leaves similar to the wreath found on the Noritake stamp.
