Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) Information | SLS Rapid Prototypes | Rapid Prototyping | Instant Quotes
Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) uses a laser to sinter powder based materials together, layer-by-layer, to form a solid model.
A thin layer of build material is spread across the platform where the laser traces a two-dimensional cross section of the part sintering the material together.
The platform then descends a layer thickness and the leveling roller pushes material from the powder cartridge across the build platform, where the next cross section is sintered to the previous.

Selective Laser Sintering, commonly referred to as SLS, is a 3 –Dimensional printing process that produces durable prototype parts and wax casting patterns from standard 3D CAD files.
Selective Laser Sintering uses a Co2 laser to sinter layers of powdered material direct from your 3D CAD data.

Moeller Design & Development | SLS | Selective Laser Sintering
Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) is a rapid prototyping process used to fabricate 3-D objects.
The energy added by the laser heats the powder into a viscous state and individual particles bond into a solid.
Once the laser has scanned the entire cross-section, another layer of powder is laid on top and the process is repeated.

SLS, or Selective Laser Sintering, is actually a registered trademark of 3D Systems, and their proprietary process.
Sintering is not as accurate as Stereolithography, that's a given.
Also, the sintered parts you receive won't have any finishing done to them, so if you're looking for a show-quality prototype for your photo shoot or trade show booth, a better solution is a set of SLA's with a paint ready finish, or urethane castings.

Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) using Powder Sinter and Fuse RP Technology | Xpress3D
SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) – Process using a CO2 laser to sinter or fuse a powder material.
The SLS method uses finely ground powders that are sintered by a laser to generate parts.
The drawback to SLS however is that the parts have a rather porous surface finishes due to the sintering nature of the technology.

How Does Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) Work?
A computer controlled carbon dioxide laser scans a cross section of the 3D solid model (described in the CAD file).
As the laser draws the cross section, the powder contacted by the laser is fused together, without actually melting the powder, forming a thin layer (typical 0.004”).
A new layer of powder is deposited and the process of laser sintering and spreading powder is repeated until the 3D object is complete.
