Self-Realization Fellowship vs. Ananda: Ananda Wins....
SRF lost the appeal on books and some of the photos, but won the right to a jury trial on the writings in 50-year-old magazines and sound recordings.
SRF has said that its goal in proceeding to trial was to win a ruling that it owned the copyrights at issue, not the 6 million in damages the jury refused to award.
After the jury rendered its verdict on October 28, 2002, SRF and Ananda agreed to settle the rest of the case.

The basic tenets of SRF are summarized as follows: l) They hold pantheism, (the belief that ultimately, God is the only reality: everything is a part of God, and all things find their true identity in God) as a primary supposition in their view of things.
Self realization then is realizing one's own dignified identity as a being created in God's own image, and going on from there by faith in Christ to become a child of God (Jn.

Yogoda [now: Self-Realization Fellowship] is not a new religion, nor a new cult, nor a new interpretation; it aims to teach the practical methods, the exact technique of widening the channel of human consciousness, so that Truth might flow in ceaselessly, endlessly, without obstructions of dogma or unproved beliefs.

SRF cites a notarized letter from the director of the Los Angeles Forest Lawn Memorial Park that affirms that Yogananda’s body exhibited “a phenomenal state of immutability.” At the time of his burial 20 days after his death, “there was no reason to say that his body had suffered any visible physical disintegration at all.”

Local SRF ministers give the same lecture around the world on Sunday mornings, and Thursday evening services consist of chanting, meditation, and a talk by the minister, with the exception of the third Thursday each month, when a “satsanga” is held in which previously submitted written questions are answered.

 self-realization
This is not really surprising, since the scholarly interpretation of what constitutes the Self is not really on the same level as the interpretations of our Philosophers.
But when the Self is explained as pure Awareness, which means without thought and individual identification (ego) of any kind, then it is clear that megalomania and sacrilege is not really an option because that would require an ego.
The trick lies in distinguishing the Real (the Self) from the unreal (the ego) and that is accomplished entirely by moving our attention away from the unreal and keep it focused on the Real, the experience of I-AM.
