 Perceptual Control and Social Power-part1
In particular, although the "control of perception" described by Powers differs subtly from the kind of interpersonal control discussed by most sociologists, I will argue that control theory challenges our basic assumption that one person can have control over the behavior of another.
Although usually classed with systems theory or cybernetic theory or more broadly among cognitive psychological theories, control theory takes a unique theoretical perspective, neatly summed up by Powers in the title of his best-known book-- Behavior: The Control of Perception (1973).
In brief, control theory holds that human action and perception are inextricably intertwined: on the one hand, actions serve to stabilize a person's perceptual world; on the other, a continuous flow of perception is necessary for effective actions to take place.

 The Collective Control of Perceptions
Control systems are capable of cooperating to control a perception jointly, and under optimum conditions their cooperative behavior is additive in terms of system gain, with an impact on the environment equivalent to that of a single super-control system.
Controlling a perception in imagination mode is in one sense easier than controlling the same perception actively, because the imagined perception is immune to the disturbances always arising in physical environments.
Even when directing attention most closely to our actions and doing our best to act in a "controlled" manner (at dinner with prospective in-laws, for instance), we end up controlling perceptions of our actions, not the actions themselves, because our perceptions are our only means for controlling anything.

 John Locke
Yet Berkeley attributed the veil of perception interpretation of the representational theory of perception to Locke as have many later commentators including Bennett.
Locke probably holds some version of the representational theory of perception, though some scholars dispute even this.
The picture would copy the original object in the external world, but because our immediate object of perception is the picture we would be prevented from seeing the original just as standing in front of a painting on an easel might prevent us from seeing the person being painted.

The Experience and Perception of Time
But causes do have locations, so the perception of precedence is rather harder to reconcile with the causal theory of perception than the perception of colour (Le Poidevin (2004)).
We might also think that perception of order was itself explicable in terms of our experience of the distinction between past and present.
Briefly, causes always precede their effects; perception is a causal process, in that to perceive something is to be causally affected by it; therefore we can only perceive earlier events, never later ones.

Perception - Howard Robinson - Microsoft Reader eBook
Robinson concludes that, despite attacks over the years, a modified version of this theory is essentially correct, overturning the consensus that has dominated the philosophy of perception for nearly half a century.
The focus, however, is on the sense-datum theory of perception.
The discussion covers perception theory from Descartes and the empiricists through Wittgenstein on privacy to contemporary physicalist theories.

Because of this language-specificity some linguists have tried to model perception with linguistic methods, which in phonology almost automatically means that they have tried to model perception within the framework of Optimality Theory.
Speech perception researchers consistently find that this mapping is language-specific for all normally developing speakers/listeners from about nine months of age.
The earliest examples are Tesar (1997 et seq) and Tesar and Smolensky (1998 et seq), who modelled the mapping from overt stress patterns to abstract metrical structure, and Boersma (1997 et seq), who modelled the mapping from continuous F1 values to discrete vowel height categories.

 ARISTOTLE'S PSYCHOLOGY
Aristotle approaches his account of the nutritive soul by relying on a methodological precept which informs much of his psychological theorizing, namely that a capacity is individuated by its objects, so that, e.g., perception is distinguished from mind by being arrayed toward sensible qualities rather than intelligible forms (De Anima ii 4, 415a20-21).
Aristotle claims that perception is best understood on the model of hylomorphic change generally: just as a house changes from blue to white when acted upon by the agency of a painter applying paint, so "perception comes about with being changed and affected.
Aristotle argues with some justification that all change and generation require the existence of something complex: when a statue comes to be from a lump of bronze, there is some continuing subject, the bronze, and something it comes to acquire, its new form.

Obviously they're unnecesary for an ecological, direct theory of perception, because the important facts themselves, not just lines and angles, are detected directly.
The traditional view of perception (including all historically empiricist AND nativist theories) says that what is "directly detected" by the visual system are very simple dimensions of receptor stimulation: light intensity, wavelength, some crude features like lines, angles, and blobs.
There is no basic level of sensation that is the starting point for perception, and there are no inferences to be made to reach knowledge of the distal stimulus.

Kammermeier, Buss & Schmidt: A systems theoretical model for human perception in multimodal presence systems.
In this paper, it is shown how a mathematical model of the human perception process, in the terminology of systems theory, can contribute to convergence and progress in an interdisciplinary research field with regard to problem structuring, systematic planning and evaluation of experiments, and model-based generation of multimodal stimuli.
The efficacy and benefits of the presented theory are demonstrated by formal descriptions of sensory substitution experimental results found in the literature, and novel experiments performed in a virtual environment.
Since the human operator then is a part of the closed-control loop, research on multimodal and haptic feedback combines mechatronics engineering challenges with human factors.

 HyperText Psychology - SENSES/Vision/color
The trichromatic theory proposed by Helmholtz (1856) expanding on work by Thomas Young is a proposal that the eye must have three different types of receptors for color.
The trichromatic theory assumes three, and only three types of color receptors, each more sensitive to a particualr color, i.e., red, or green, or blue.

Cues in Films with Surprise Endings
Using psychological phenomenon such as the hindsight bias, confirmation bias, perception, counterfactual thinking and belief perseverance, the researcher came up with a reason why each individual cue was missed.
Coon (2000) says that perception is "the mental process of organizing sensations into meaningful patterns" and attention is being able to only concentrate on one thing when multiple things are going on.
Theoretically, if a theory is formed then the cues were not overlooked, however, these two terms do rely on mislead theories but in order to get these theories, there has to be a reason why the right theory wasn't gathered in the first place.
